10 Mango-licious Cocktail Recipes

Get Your Mango On in a Fantastic Drink

There may not be many mango cocktails in the world, but when this fruit comes into our drinks, it's wonderful. Whether you have a mango rum, vodka, or liqueur in your bar or want to play with the fresh fruit or mango nectar, we have a few tasty cocktail recipes you won't want to miss.

A few vodka brands offer a mango option in their portfolio and these are very fun to play with. The mango spice cocktail features the fruity vodka of Absolut, but there's a surprise inside this unassuming drink.

The recipe calls for both mango vodka and nectar and the duo are enhanced with agave nectar, lime, and orange bitters. Yet, the real fun comes into play with a few slices of muddled jalapeno pepper. The contrast is fantastic, making it a cocktail you won't forget.

One thing to consider when it comes to mango vodka is to make your own. Using the fresh fruit, the vodka infusion is easy and should take just about a week. Whether you buy or DIY, while you have mango vodka in stock, give the sage lady a try.

If hot peppers are too much for you, this cocktail is considerably tamer but no less interesting. It uses fresh sage and cucumber in a classic sour formula with mango vodka and peach bitters. It's utterly charming.

One of the easiest ways to get the taste of mango into your cocktails is with mango nectar. This semi-sweet liquid is readily available at grocers, just look in the juice aisle. After a cocktail like the French sparkle, you'll discover why it's a great drink mixer.

This recipe is delightfully simple, pairing a raspberry vodka with the nectar and Champagne. If you're looking for something a little different than the famous Bellini, it's a fantastic choice.

We're going to put a mango spin on one of our favorite happy hour cocktails. The vodka tonic is a great drink, but when you're in the mood for something a little more interesting, simply add mango.

The mango tonic can be made with either mango nectar or mango liqueur. For the latter, opt for a bottle from Bols or Marie Brizard Mango. Pair that with your preferred vodka and tonic water. It's a nice balance of sweet fruit against dry sparkle, making it great for a meal.

Mango is a favorite flavor for rum distillers because the tropical fruit is a natural companion for the tropical liquor. Cruzan is one of the brands that you can rely on for this flavor and it's a great addition to any well-stocked bar.

The mango iced tea recipe is simple and fun. We're not relying on the rum alone, though, because it's paired with a nice Canadian whisky. Add chilled iced tea and a refreshing cocktail is ready for your summer afternoon.

A berry-filled cocktail, the garden patch smash offers you the choice between tequila and mango rum. The second option is quite delightful, softly contrasting all the fresh summer fruits.

This tall, refreshing drink requires you to make a raspberry-lavender syrup, which is incredibly easy. You'll mix that with fresh blueberries, a hint of lime, and your favorite mango rum. To finish it off, a bottle of lavender soda does the trick.

Mango makes a great margarita and it comes with options. The easiest is to simply shake your favorite tequila with mango liqueur. Yes, just two ingredients can make an impressive cocktail.

The second option is frozen and relies on the fresh fruit. It's a nice one to pull out when mangoes appear in the market and, thankfully, that's almost year-round. No matter how you take your mango margarita, don't keep it to yourself. These deserve to be shared.

Sangria, anyone? While many sangrias are dark and somewhat heavy, the white peach sangria is quite the opposite. Everything we love about the wine punch is included, it simply uses a brighter fruit and wine blend.

The recipe begins with Pinot Grigio and adds mango rum and peach schnapps. Toss in a whole host of freshly squeezed citrus juices, then top it with lemon-lime soda. It's perfect for a spring brunch or summer gathering.

A Blueberry Martini when we're talking about mango? It's true and mango juice is the secret ingredient in this intriguing vodka cocktail.

The recipe calls for vodka and orange liqueur along with blueberry and mango juices. The contrast between the two fruits is surprisingly pleasant and you'll find that the mango does wonders for freshening up the dark berry. No mango juice? Go with the nectar instead.

A rather interesting bourbon cocktail, the global warmer includes an array of flavors. It may not be for everyone, but it's surely going to be a taste adventure.

For this recipe, you'll pair fresh mint with the very fine whiskey from Basil Hayden's. Pour a tropical mango liqueur and triple sec along with a fresh lime sour mix. Shake it all up and brace for an explosion of flavor.

Mango-Ginger Cocktail With Cilantro Recipe

The round sweetness of mango gets a kick from spicy ginger and tart lemon in this tequila cocktail. If you have it, use reposado tequila, which lends a warm oakiness to the drink, balanced here with a touch of bright, grassy cilantro.

Note: To make simple syrup, combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Cool before using. Simple syrup will keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

  • Yield: Makes 1 cocktail
  • Active time: 10 minutes
  • Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • For the Ginger Juice:
  • 1 (2 to 3-inch) knob fresh ginger, about 1 1/2 ounces, peeled
  • For the Cocktail:
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh ripe mango, diced (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro leaves
  • 3/4 ounces freshly squeezed juice from 1 lemon
  • 1/2 ounce ginger juice
  • 1/3 ounce simple syrup (see note above)
  • 2 ounces reposado tequila
  • Garnish: cilantro leaves

Directions

For the Ginger Juice: Slice ginger into chunks and place in bottom of mixing glass. Muddle until broken up well, about 1 minute. Strain juice through fine-mesh strainer, pressing on solids with the back of a spoon to extract juice.

For the Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, muddle mango, cilantro, lemon juice, ginger juice, and simple syrup until the mango is completely dissolved.

Fill shaker with 2/3 full with ice and add tequila. Shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Using a strainer, pour into a serving glass filled with ice. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired.

Mango Passion Cocktail - A Taste of Paradise!

    • 10 mins
    • Prep: 10 mins,
    • Cook: 0 mins
    • Yield: Serves 6 to 8

Mango cocktails are a common drink on the beaches of southern Thailand, and here you'll find the recipe so you can enjoy them right in your own backyard paradise! This drink is so delicious, it conjures up images of lying on a tropical beach taking in the sunshine and surf. Mangoes are an easy fruit to prepare - if you're not used to cutting into a mango, see my instructions below. Makes a superb summer drink to sip on in the afternoon, and is also a very popular party drink. Garnish yours with slices of mango, lime and/or other tropical or local summer fruit. For food pairings, serve with something crisp and crunchy like my Thai spring rolls or really spice things up with some of my spicier Thai finger/party foods where the hot flavors of chili marry beautifully with the cooling tones of mango. For a non-alcoholic version, see tip below recipe. Here's to Summer!

    What You'll Need

    • 2 ripe mangoes
    • 1/2 cup vodka
    • 1/4 cup lime juice (or juice of 1/2 lime)
    • Pinch of salt
    • 1 to 2 Tbsp. natural syrup, like maple syrup (or 1 to 3 tsp. sugar to taste)
    • 1 bottle sparkling white wine (or substitute sparkling spring water if you prefer less alcohol)
    • Optional garnishes: wedge of fresh lime or other fruit

    How to Make It

    1. First, cut the mangoes and drop all their succulent flesh into your blender.
    2. Add the vodka, lime juice, salt, and syrup or sugar. Blend well to create a kind of mango puree. Now do a taste-test, adding more syrup or sugar if desired (how much syrup will depend on the sweetness of your mangoes). This drink should be a balance between sweet and sour but leaning more toward the sweet.
    1. Pour this wonderful mango concoction into glasses, half-filling them. Top up with your choice of champagne, sparkling wine, or sparkling spring water if you prefer less alcohol. Finish with a couple of ice cubes or some crushed ice.
    2. If desired, garnish glasses with slices/wedges of fresh lime, plus your choice of fresh fruit (I used fresh cherries).

Tip: Non-Alcoholic Version - To make this drink non-alcoholic, substitute the vodka for 1/4 cup water OR mango juice (or other tropical juice, such as guava or pineapple juice). Then top up your glass with sparkling spring water (such as Perrier) instead of champagne.

    Recipe: Mango Colada

I once went to the Caribbean and actually got sick of Piña Coladas. It happens to the best of us. Midway through the vacation, I asked my bartender to switch it up a bit and it turns out that the same drink made with mango is just as good, if not better. The bartender kept the pineapple slice garnish as a nostalgic nod to our journey together through a week of seaside cocktails.

If you don't want to bother tracking down a ripe mango and slicing it, use frozen mango. Cream of coconut is the sickly sweet stuff most often found in the blue Coco Lopez can. For a lighter version, you can use light coconut milk, or lighter yet, coconut water.

Of course, this is the ideal kind of cocktail to make non-alcoholic if that's the sort of thing you're looking for.

    Mango Colada

1/2 cup unsweetened mango juice or nectar

1/2 cup ripe mango cubes, fresh or frozen

1/2 cup crushed ice (or 1/4 cup if using frozen mango)

1/4 cup cream of coconut, coconut milk, or coconut water

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 1/2 lime)

    1/4 cup white rum, optional

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and thick. Serve in tall glasses.

Summer Cocktail: The Fresh Mango Sweet Escape

Mango! We adore our sweet and creamy mango lassi, spiked with cardamom, but we hadn't thought about a mango cocktail. Then we received this recipe from the National Mango Board.

They developed this cocktail with mixologist and Iron Chef America champion Tony Abou-Ganim, and it's a blend of mango and vodka -- perfect for a party but especially good for summer.

1 ounce fresh mango puree – made with fresh mango*

    1 1/2 ounce vodka

    1 ounce fresh lemon juice**

    2 ounces chilled soda water

Mango slices (fan) & lemon spiral for garnish

In a mixing glass add fresh mango puree, vodka, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup; add ice and shake until well blended. Strain into a ice filled Collins glass and spritz with chilled soda water. Garnish with a fan of mango slices and a spiral of lemon.

    * Fresh Mango Puree: One medium-sized mango = 1 cup diced = 1/2 cup puree.

    ** Fresh Lemon Juice: 1 medium-sized lemon = approx 2 ounces juice

*** Simple Syrup: Mix a 1:1 ratio of water to sugar; bring water to a boil, add sugar to dissolve, and cool. You can see a complete recipe here: DIY Simple Syrup
