Summertime – my personal highlight every year! In line with this I’m talking about the new summer scent from Mexx today!

I’m in San Francisco for nearly two weeks now and I’m seizing the urban cityflair to the fullest! The city with its variety of vibrant districts and the stunning view over the Golden Gate Bridge is just a dream – and that’s why I chose this view for today’s shooting location!

I’m really into the vibes of this city – everyone is unbelievably friendly and open-minded, just in such a good mood! If being on the rooftops in Down-Town or in the hippie district Haight-Ashbury – all of the people are so looking forward to summertime 🙂

How I enjoy the urban life and summer right now? With a stunning view over Golden Gate Bridge!

The last two weeks we were wandering around San Francisco, getting to know the city as much as we could. This weekend, we’re of to Los Angeles! For me personally, the absolute “Wow-Effect” of this city was seeing it from the top and realizing how impressive American metropolises are! My absolute favorite spot is the one next to Golden Gate Bridge – especially in the afternoon 🙂

For our summer trip I’m having the suitable scent to go with it: The MEXX COCKTAIL SUMMER Limited Edition! Some time ago I already showed you the classic scent “Mexx Woman” – today I’m talking about a variation, which fits perfectly to summertime!

The flacon itself suits the Golden Gate Bridge perfectly because of its color – I love the color gradient, since it looks so summery, don’t you think? Although the flacon is colored, the rest of it has a quite clean design – which I really like.

The design of the flacon was actually drafted by many consumers through an online contest – cool, right? It looks like some kind of cocktail glass, perfect for summertime!

I personally really like the scent, since it reminds me so much of summertime – for day or even nighttime!

The ingredients are very lively and make the perfume smell very fresh and vitalizing – especially for a metropolis during summertime just the perfect companion! The ingredients are grapefruit, green apple and a feminine touch of peach flowers and lily of the valley.

Because of the feminine touch it’s not too fruity – very pleasant to wear! You can get the scent starting this month here (click!) for a limited time – has one of you already tried it? x

How crowd creativity generated Limited Edition pack designs, and built the strategy

Step 1. Understand your target & your market

Summer is Mexx’s peak season. Its everyday freshness appeals to urban young professionals in key markets like Germany.

Mexx, a premium fragrance brand sold in the drugstore channel, celebrates this with a fresh summer Limited Edition fragrance for men & women each year.

Step 2. Plan for a big splash in summer

In 2016, Mexx briefed eYeka to develop the 2017 Summer Limited Edition based a City Beach Cocktail theme. Mexx decided to co-create with creative Millennials, for Millennials. eYeka’s global creative community, 75% of whom are Millennials, was the perfect creative partner. The community was asked to create arresting outer pack designs for Mexx’s 2017 Summer Limited Edition.

Step 3. Follow your intuition and plunge ahead

In 4 weeks, Mexx received 82 designs from 30 countries, which creatively interpreted the City Beach Cocktail theme for the Men & Women variants. After selecting 3 winners, Mexx decided to work directly with the first prize winner, a Californian Millennial freelance designer, to finalize the design for the European launch in May 2017.

Step 4. Run with it. Amplify it. Learn from it.

It’s too early for market results, but the more conceptual, yet targeted approach has galvanized both Mexx’s sales force, and the trade. An in-store key visual was developed, based on the outer pack designs, for extra in-store visibility.

The Co-Creation experience has led to a new creative benchmark and inspired their future Limited Edition strategy.
