Last night i had a fantastic dinner in Ipanema restaurant in Doha. it was long time i did not have Brazilian dinner and this place really reminded me on the real Rio restaurant i frequented 10 years ago.

I have been to this restaurant several times with my colleagues and I had to admit this is the best restaurant in Doha for having the grill in Brazilian style.

I can say that its a different experience that the food is coming to you at the table, all type of steak will be served to you with a little variety of checkin and shrimp, the salad items is mostly about seafood, restaurant atmosphere is nice with a cool band playing on the background, very friendly staff, satisfactory overall experience.

The Grill from Ipanema - DC Ratings and Reviews

          Overall Rating

          ambience
          Noise

Delicious food, cozy place, good service and lovely Brazilian bossa nova and samba in the background. Save some room for dessert, as you shouldn't miss their spectacular homemade flan!

Family-owned with impeccable service and scrumptious food. One of my favorite restaurants in DC.

The food was disappointing. I was expecting big flavors, but it was a miss.

We hadn't been to The Grill From Ipanema in a few years. Our recent visit reminded us why it is one of our favorites. They still serve the best Caipirinha in the DC area (and one of the best anywhere), though it seemed that there was more ice in the glass than we remembered from past visits. The menu includes pretty much something for everyone; neither meat lovers nor vegetarians will be disappointed. Our party of three had chicken (the Frango Vinicius de Moraes , a spicy dish, is awesome), beef, and shrimp for our entrees. While fried yuca is plentiful in the DC area and usually does not stand out, don't skip it here.

The food was good and the portion of food that came with the meals we ordered were very large portions.

I reached out to the restaurant regarding an error in the reservation. Never heard back. I wouldn't go again.

The service was great, but the steak was thin and hard to cut, had a couple of veins or arteries that ran through it, by the time I cut it all away, there wasn't much left, and it wasn't very good. It was a NY Strip.

The service was one of the slowest that i have ever experienced.

Absolute best authentic Brazilian experience and food in town.

Great experience and great food. Glad we went. the vegetables were surprisingly amazing.

This is a Brazilian restaurant which served delicious food. The menu offers seafood, beef, chicken and vegetable entrees. Each of the three of us enjoyed our food very much. Mine provided dinner and lunch the next day. The service was friendly and attentive. The only drawback was the sound of the blender making special drinks. Perhaps that could be moved away from the bar area and into the kitchen. I would happily go back .

Authentic Brazilian cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere with excellent service.

Very good food and very friendly staff.

Extraordinary, as always. My fiance is Brazilian and loves this place - as do I; it's the real deal.

          Great food and service!

A home away from home - with fantastic food and very friendly service. You can't beat the restaurant week prix fixe, but we will definitely go back even for the usual prices. All of the food was delicious.

3 out of our party of 6 ordered medium rare steak. All 3 were over cooked and waiter acted annoyed with us from the time he took our first drink order to when we paid. He never mentioned they add a 20 % tip to group of 6. He only deserved 10 %. Won't be going back.

          Great food wonderful tapas menu

Outstanding service and delicious authentic food. Will visit again.

Great food, nice service. We went for restaurant week and it was an excellent deal!

The host and waiter were lovely and friendly, and knew the right questions to ask to get us the best meal possible. Great ambience and vibes. The food was delicious and felt like comfort food. We can't wait to come back and try the things we missed.

Loved the restaurant week menu, and I greatly enjoyed sitting outside. I can't wait to come back.

We dropped in for Brazilian tapas and were not disappointed. The abacate maraja (avacodo with shrimp) and bolinho de feijoada (black bean croquettes) were particularly good, but the mexilhao a carioca (green mussels) and mandioca frita (fried yuca) were amazing!

Excelente! Gostamos da moqueca de pescado mixta e pastel de sorvete muito. o servicio es bom e o ambiente agradable.

Great service. Food rocked my world. Nothing in tthis world like Moqueca. Nothing.

I loved the Brazilian street food experience (tapas). The portions are generous and great value to be served family style. Best caipirocas and passion fruit cocktail I ever had. My friend who joined me for dinner is gluten free so she loved the fact their menu had a great selection for gluten free eaters. Also, I really enjoyed that everyone speaks Portuguese and it is a family owned restaurant so it adds to the experience.

It was an excellent experience! Very good "tapas" - "petiscos"!

I absolutely love it! Very authentic! Brazilians run the restaurant. It had great flavor. The only thing I think is weird is that the food is a little pricey for Brazilian food that is typical street food or home cooked meal style.

We found this through Open Table and were pleasantly surprised. Food was fresh and well prepared.

One of the nicest restaurants in my immediate neighborhood.

The food was Excellent and the ambience was great . The music by Cissa Paz was entertaing and enjoyable !

Food taste was blend, had to chase a waiter for a refil for my drink, waitress took too long to show up and first charged us with the wrong table value.

Authentic Brazilian food with a very friendly staff. However, the place is a little run down and the food does not taste fresh. We ordered a shrimp dish we are very familiar with and it was alright, but the shrimp were very overcooked. We ordered a steak and it was hard (difficult to cut and chew). They were also out of some appetizers because they had "an event the night before" - but it was Father's Day brunch, so surprising they didn't have the ingredients.

I had a great time with my friend. Service was great and they took consideration of our wish when choosing the table. Food is savoury and great.

We stumbled upon this restaurant first through GrubHub and were floored by how amazing the food was. Making the trip to the restaurant did not disappoint. It was not crowded, and the service was helpful without being overbearing. The food is absolutely incredible, though, and that is the main reason to go. Everything we have had from here is phenomenal, from the small plates to the seafood to the meats to the drinks! I would especially recommend the Brazilian paella - it's a customer favorite for a reason!

Service and food was overall good. Only draw back was the parking. On the open table site it states that this restaurant offers valet parking. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told that they have not offered valet parking in over a year. It cost us $20 to park for 1 1/2 hours. Since parking is very difficult in the DC area we selected this restaurant for the valet parking. It is suggested that if coming to this restaurant that you take a taxi or Uber.

Great meal and service. Thank you!

I love coming to the Grill from Ipanema. This was the perfect spot for my graduation dinner party. The food is authentic and the staff is LOVELY. I have lived in Brazil and speak Portuguese so I love engaging with the staff in their native language. It always makes the experience more enjoyable. The caipirinhas are a must as well as the coxinha appetizers.

Friday at 6:30 was a perfect reservation; we beat the crowds and were rewarded with high attention service and quick food delivery. The server was great at comparing menu options, and drink recommendations. The servings were plentiful, enough for a full leftover meal, and the food was high quality (good cuts of meat, great seafood, tender veggies). Will definitely add this to the rotation when I'm in town!

We were able to make a reservation without much advance and had a great time celebrating my brother's birthday and Mother's Day. Lively, relaxed place with delicious food!

          Ipanema Restaurant Ratings and Reviews

          Overall Rating

The food was well presented, drinks were great, and service was impeccable and friendly

The food was delicious. Also desert was great. Overall it was really nice dining experience.

Excelente la Picahna, el servicio perfecto y amigable!

Great Brazilian food! Amazing restaurant with great service!

Excellent choice for a evening of fine food away from the maddening theater crowd. Just dined here before theater. Now I want to dine here all all night!

Ipanema is among the few Brazilian restaurants left on ol' Brazilian row. Recently moved up the block to new beautiful, brighter location . but menu has shrunk and cooking is basic. Neighborhood standby. Not bad. Not great. Just limited.

Very good service and the food was quite good. The wine was good and regional wines were available

Loved this place ! The server was awesome and friendly and the food was delicious ! Can't wait to come back :)

What a fantastic experience. Absolutely loved it. We were in NYC for a play and came here on a whim. Did not regret it. Everyone loved the food. And there was lots to share.

Went there for a dinner with my mentor and it was great!

          The area is too small

Food very tasty, shrimp huge, recommend taking the heart of palm salad off the menu as it is really just a pile of shredded lettuce with a few heart of palm on top.

High noise level for a businnes lunch.

Service was amazing and the food was great. Really good caipirinhas

Monkfish and shrimp dish was excellent. Say under an AC vent hitch made the food cold way too quickly

I would have given a higher rating, as I adore this restaurant, but the server was not helpful and did not serve two items that were ordered. First, I had a special dinner request, and the server claimed he could not assist. I garnered the services of a different server, and he was more than happy to oblige my request. Then, my husband ordered sangria that was never delivered, and at dessert, he never got a coffee that he ordered. We were not charged for the sangria, but the coffee that never arrived was on the bill. Disappointing, as we eat here often.

Terrible ambience. Felt like we were in a cheesy hotel restaurant. Food was passable - seafood stew we ordered was ok, but the steak in garlic sauce was pretty bad. I couldn't even identify the cut of beef this came from. The ambience totally killed it for me - felt like we were in a Holiday Inn in the suburbs.

Just ok. Chose this over oritiz & regretted it. Octopus salad was great the paella was dry & flavorless and not great quality seafood.

As always, a five-start dining experience. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the price was very reasonable. I'll definitely be eating there again!

Ipanema boasts a true Brazilian fare. After a sausage and potato app with spicy sauce (more than enough for 2), I had the fried octopus which was served with oven onions and oven baked white potatoes. My wife had the flank steak with cilantro and dill and vegetables. The portions were sizable and perfectly prepared. Notwithstanding, we were provided bowls of complementary black beans and rice and told if we wanted more just to ask. There was no up charge on these. I enjoyed Xinghu on tap and my wife enjoyed the red wine suggested by our server and a complementary refill. We could not have asked for a more pleasant dining experience. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. They even shared a homemade hot sauce which was just right. I will gladly return to Ipanema.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! The caipirinhas are a perfect way to start an always delicious meal. The waiters are super helpful and promptly responsive. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Staff was very welcoming, helpfully described options and made good suggestions. The food was tasty, and plentiful. Dinner was not rushed and I was able to catch up with a friend. We left agreeing that we would both return.

We couldn't have been more disappointed in our birthday meal at Ipanema. The server didn't know the menu. Our food was brought before we finished appetizers. The Sea Bass dish was overcooked, slimy and very fishy tasting. Worse of all, we ordered plantains and they arrived fried. After notifying the server that we wanted them without breading due to an allergy to flour, the server came back and said the chef would use less flour. The only bright spot to the evening was the steak. To finish, it took forever to get the bill.

Both steak sandwiches from lunch menu were delicious with tender steak. Always enjoyable.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! The service was excellent. Food was excellent. The manager went above and beyond to make our visit absolutely fantastic.

They were trying to save money and didn't turn the AC on. It was so hot. The fish I ordered was not fresh. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I don't know why they charge so much. Hope they close down.

We picked Ipanema Restaurant for its proximity to the theater we went to. It was a true find. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and prepared very well. We ate with friend we have not seen for awhile and were able to have conversation without trying to talk above the crowd. We would go back.

Absolutely fantastic! Turns out the owner of Ipanema was also the owner of the Brazilian Pavilion on 53rd street…our favorite Brazilian restaurant back in the 1980’s. The excellence continues. Great caipirinha’s, steaks, rice and black beans. Service was friendly. What’s not to like!

Great service, food and presentation. Went with a few friends and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Great service, food outstanding, lots of food if you do not mind sharing do it.

          Nice location anf staff.

We wish we lived closer. What a delightful treat of a cozy Brazilian/Portuguese place in a block with two much larger, gaudier Brazilian restaurants. For once the approval decals in the door windows were accurate as this little gem has to be the best of the three. Portions are generous so we split a superb sea bass and had different appetizers including the best calamari either of us has ever had. The flan for dessert was also superb. The wine list was a bit short, but our two choices were excellent. Our companions split a steak which still left them with a large portion apiece. Next time we're in the City, we're going back here and to Tanner Smith's on West 55th,

          another trip highlight.

We went by accident, actually, mixing it up with another Brazilian restaurant on the same street, but we weren't disappointed at all. The food was superb, the wine was a perfect match, and we had a delightful evening. We will be going back there again!

          Great customer service. Outstanding food!

The bitoque steak dish and the skirt steak were delicious. Friendly and attentive staff. Also, close to Theater District for pre or post show dinner.

Everything was really amazing. Food was delicious and staff was super attentive. My only complaint is it got extremely lively/loud in the restaurant when it filled up at dinner time and I couldn't hear my family sitting next to me at my table with out them yelling. The acoustics were absolutely no good.

Food and service are great. The noise level made conversation a challenge

2nd business lunch here. Service is excellent. Food is great. Some dishes better value than others, but all have been thoroughly enjoyed. Grilled salmon was cooked to perfection. Only complaint is that it was loud for a brief moment, but other than that, ambience is great for a casual business meal.

Excellent daily special on Friday: Chicken Bitoque. A must.

          Ipanema Beach, Brazil

Trendsetting Ipanema, the place made famous by the '60s song to bear its name, has a long tradition of dictating beach chic to the rest of the world. The beach was, after all, a launching pad for the skimpy tanga bikini, the once-popular crocheted G-string for men, and the unforgettable (if only we could forget) dental-floss bikini.

As expected, the two kilometers of white sand -- and the bodies strewn along them -- are the star attractions here. Yet the name Ipanema also refers to the surrounding neighborhood -- a compact, easily navigated mixture of upscale shops, frenetic nighttime hot spots and hip restaurants. First-time visitors will want to stroll down Rua Vincius de Morais -- a strip lined with bars, shops and restaurants, including the famous Garota de Ipanema Bar (originally called the Velloso Bar). It was here that Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais penned the lyrics to "The Girl from Ipanema." On Sundays the Hippie Fair offers wares from area craftsmen and artists. And at night, the young and young-at-heart head to Rio's Baixo Farme and Baixo Quiteria, southside streets jammed with bars and cafes.

Nearest domestic airport: The International Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport is about 19 miles (30 kilometers) from Ipanema, about a 30-minute drive.

Nearest major international airport: Santos Dumont Domestic Airport, located in the heart of the city, is about 10 minutes by car from Ipanema.

Several taxi services are available to shuttle visitors from both airports. An executive airport bus links the International Airport with the Santos Dumont Airport, or visitors can take a similar bus that serves the main oceanfront hotels in Ipanema.

Rio de Janeiro's climate is tropical. The summer season (December to March) is the warmest, with temperatures ranging from 77 to 95 F (25 to 35 C) and higher. In the winter (June through August), temperatures range from 55 to 64 F (13 to 18 C). New Year's Eve and Carnival (held four days before Ash Wednesday, usually mid- to late-February) are the two busiest times, so book well in advance.

Rio has more than 250 hotels and motels, including 13 five-star, 41 four-star and 60 three-star hotels. The areas best known for budget accommodations are Gloria, Catete and Flamengo. The Rio Visitors and Convention Bureau has a limited list of hotels. For more accommodations, try Ipanema.

The city offers a wide selection of cuisine, but it would be a shame to miss out on Rio's distinct regional cooking and signature dishes. One especially worth trying is Feijoada, a spicy bean-and-pork stew usually served with sides including sliced oranges, stir-fried eggs and manioc flour, thinly sliced kale and white rice. On the sidewalks near the beach, kiosks offer coconut water, corn on the cob, grilled shrimp, baked cheese rolls and other snacks. To wash it down, try "caipirinha" -- a traditional cocktail made with Brazilian sugarcane rum, lemon and sugar.

Unlike the rest of South America, Brazil's language is Portuguese. However, most people in highly trafficked tourist areas understand English. In addition, Rio has established a Tourist Police branch where officers usually speak English and are trained to provide help to visitors.

          Linking for a better vacation
