Cocktail kokos
Let’s all go back to the early 70’s, when two little boys named Albert and Jorge Suarez were running and playing like boys do. With a strict right hand from their father, and a gentle left hand from their mother, these young monsters grew up just as their mother wanted them to. Albert, the older of the two, grew up to be ambitious and aggressive. Jorge on the other hand, grew up free-spirited and charming.
At Kokos, we take real pride in serving our guests authentic Mexican dishes made with the finest ingredients available.
We have always been located in McAllen Texas and have proudly served the Rio Grande Valley for over 25 years. We would love to have stop by and taste the Koko's difference and enjoy our fun filled atmosphere.

Depending on the size of your thirst, we’ve got the glass just right for the size of your margarita, either frozen or on the rocks. And the best part is we’re able to offer these top-taste, top-quality drinks for a price that will leave you wanting more.
Had gotten a recommendation to come to Koko's and were not disappointed! Amazing food friendly staff and mariachi to boot.
Yes, the food is great. The botanas are revolutionary. But I only write this as a warning: the margaritas are potent. My god, three months later and I am still reeling. Bring your aspirin and be warned.
Food was good, we ordered tacos and the soup everyone talked about! Ive had better soup, but the tacos were really good! And the tortillas were fresh!
Excellent service and wait staff. We highly recommend the fajita plate and cheese enchilada with fajita chopped on top (special order). Lemonade is fantastic and super refreshing. Try the chile relleno and don't forget the charro beans are sooooo good!
This was great food. Very tasty and was recommended by my customer. He eats here all the time. Also was told there is a great bar here.
10 Delicious Coconut Cocktail Recipes
For the Love of a Tropical Coconut Drink
Coconut cocktails are among the tastiest treats in the bar and there is a great variety to choose from. Of course, you can mix up a tropical Piña Colada with your favorite rum. Maybe the brandy-based Kappa Colada or the non-alcoholic Coco Colada are a better fit for your current mood. Yet, if you're looking for a fun, new way to drink your coconut, we have a few ideas to turn up the taste of the tropics.
Coconut Martini
This is no ordinary Coconut Martini recipe. Inside this glass, you'll find a sort of inverted Piña Colada with just a hint of pineapple. The base is made up of vanilla vodka, coconut rum, and cream of coconut and it's a stunning little treat. Coconut Martini recipe
Tip: Cream of coconut is the most common non-alcoholic mixer that adds the luscious flavor of coconut to mixed drinks. It's preferred because it is sweeter and thicker than coconut milk. Coco Lopez is the most popular brand . MORE and can often be found in liquor stores because it is essential to making a Piña Colada.
Cream of coconut is not the same as creme de coconut, which is typically rum-based liqueur.
Coconut Key Lime Momtini
When you're in the mood for a tropical drink without the liquor, you'll want to turn to the Coconut Key Lime Momtini. It is a fun twist on the average coconut cocktail, featuring limeade, coconut milk, and key lime juice. It's a bit like key lime pie in a glass. Coconut Key Lime Momtini recipe
Tip: Coconut milk often separates in the can. You can use either the thin or thick milk for this recipe or mix the two back together for the perfect balance of the two.
The Caipirinha is not the only cocktail that's a hot commodity in Brazil. The country also boasts about the sweet, refreshing taste of the Batida. This recipe also features cachaça to which coconut milk, lime juice, and passionfruit are added. Batida recipe
Tip: The Batida can be served on the rocks or blended to fit your mood and the amount of energy you want to put into mixing your drink.
Bahama Mama
Coconut and pineapple are a natural pairing for the most tropical of drinks. Those like the Blue Hawaiian and Bahama Mama rely on this matchup and they've long been favorites. When you're in the mood for a truly beachy cocktail, grab the rum and your favorite coconut liqueur. Bahama Mama recipe
Tip: There is a great variety of coconut-flavored liqueurs available. They may also be labeled "creme de coconut." Popular brands include Bols, DeKuyper, Kalani, Koko Kanu, Mahina Coco . MORE Clement, and Marie Brizard.
Quite often, liqueurs that refer to a "tropical" mix of flavors include at least a little coconut as well.
Coco Light Martini
The creamy coconut cocktails are fantastic, but sometimes you want that same flavor in a lighter form. In this case, turn to the refreshing Coco Light Martini. The recipe is simple and uses both coconut vodka and coconut with a hint of pineapple and lime. In just a few minutes, a fabulous martini is ready to enjoy. Coco Light Martini recipe
Tip: Coconut vodka has become one of the hot new flavors and a number of brands offer it. Ciroc is the top of the line offering (and used in this recipe) . MORE while New Amsterdam is a budget-friendly favorite.
Rock Lobster
When it's time to pull out the blender, few drinks are as fun to share with friends as the Rock Lobster. This frosty mix of coconut rum, banana liqueur, grenadine, pineapple, and orange is always a hit. Bonus points if you rock out to the B-52s while mixing it up! Rock Lobster recipe
Tip: Coconut rum is the best-known liquor of this flavor, with brands like Bacardi, Cruzan, and Brinley among the list of favorites. Of course, Malibu is probably the most famous of the lot, though it is . MORE technically "Caribbean rum with coconut liqueur." That makes it useful in recipes that call for either coconut rum or liqueur.
Surfer on Acid
There are those times when you just want to pour, mix, and drink. This is when a recipe like the Surfer on Acid comes in handy. It's beyond simple: just pour equal amounts of coconut rum, Jagermeister, and pineapple juice. It's a favorite bar drink and one that anyone can pull off. Surfer on Acid recipe
Tip: As with many cocktails, feel free to serve the Surfer on Acid however you like. It's fantastic on the rocks, but also makes a great party shooter or neat martini-like drink.
Bushwacker
Have you had enough of the pineapple-coconut combo? Let's turn to another very fun frozen cocktail and get a little chocolate into the mix. The Bushwacker is a great recipe that mixes up dark rum, coffee and chocolate liqueurs, cream of coconut, and milk. It's a boozy milkshake, need we say more? Bushwacker recipe
Tip: Can't find cream of coconut? Try one of these substitutes:
- Skim the top layer off an unshaken can of coconut milk. The milk naturally separates into two layers and the . MORE thicker top layer is the sweeter of the two.
- Mix sweetened condensed milk with a small amount of coconut extract. Begin with 1/2 teaspoon and adjust to taste.
Holiday Spice
Coconut should not be reserved for the sweltering days of summer. There's no reason you can't bring it into the holiday season as well. A recipe like the Holiday Spice is a little Piña Colada and a little Eggnog. You'll be surprised at how well this works and it certainly brightens up the winter season. Holiday Spice recipe
Tip: Batida de coco is a creamy liqueur that can be used in place of the cream of coconut in drinks like this. Mangaroca is a popular brand.
As countless candy bars have proven over the years, chocolate and coconut are a delicious combination. When the winter winds pick up, toss a shot of your favorite coconut rum into a steaming cup of hot chocolate and unwind after a busy day. Mound Bar recipe
Tip: If you really want to dress up this drink, begin with real homemade hot chocolate. It's a more indulgent option to cocoa and all you really need is "some kind of chocolate" and milk.

For how long can I let a bottle sit?
The bottle will stay mint for 4 years. After this, the coffee flavor won’t hit the high notes as in it’s prime – but it will stay safe and sound to enjoy for longer.
Mango Passion Cocktail - A Taste of Paradise!
- 10 mins
- Prep: 10 mins,
- Cook: 0 mins
- Yield: Serves 6 to 8
Mango cocktails are a common drink on the beaches of southern Thailand, and here you'll find the recipe so you can enjoy them right in your own backyard paradise! This drink is so delicious, it conjures up images of lying on a tropical beach taking in the sunshine and surf. Mangoes are an easy fruit to prepare - if you're not used to cutting into a mango, see my instructions below. Makes a superb summer drink to sip on in the afternoon, and is also a very popular party drink. Garnish yours with slices of mango, lime and/or other tropical or local summer fruit. For food pairings, serve with something crisp and crunchy like my Thai spring rolls or really spice things up with some of my spicier Thai finger/party foods where the hot flavors of chili marry beautifully with the cooling tones of mango. For a non-alcoholic version, see tip below recipe. Here's to Summer!
What You'll Need
- 2 ripe mangoes
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1/4 cup lime juice (or juice of 1/2 lime)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. natural syrup, like maple syrup (or 1 to 3 tsp. sugar to taste)
- 1 bottle sparkling white wine (or substitute sparkling spring water if you prefer less alcohol)
- Optional garnishes: wedge of fresh lime or other fruit
How to Make It
- First, cut the mangoes and drop all their succulent flesh into your blender.
- Add the vodka, lime juice, salt, and syrup or sugar. Blend well to create a kind of mango puree. Now do a taste-test, adding more syrup or sugar if desired (how much syrup will depend on the sweetness of your mangoes). This drink should be a balance between sweet and sour but leaning more toward the sweet.
- Pour this wonderful mango concoction into glasses, half-filling them. Top up with your choice of champagne, sparkling wine, or sparkling spring water if you prefer less alcohol. Finish with a couple of ice cubes or some crushed ice.
- If desired, garnish glasses with slices/wedges of fresh lime, plus your choice of fresh fruit (I used fresh cherries).
Tip: Non-Alcoholic Version - To make this drink non-alcoholic, substitute the vodka for 1/4 cup water OR mango juice (or other tropical juice, such as guava or pineapple juice). Then top up your glass with sparkling spring water (such as Perrier) instead of champagne.
Rum & Tonic
Todd Thrasher says this cocktail puts him in vacation mode. He’s a longtime scuba diver, and when he visits the Caribbean island of Bonaire, this is his go-to drink after a day in the water. Slideshow: More Great Cocktails Made with White Rum
Ingredients
- Ice
- 2 ounces white rum, preferably Banks 5-Island
- 5 ounces chilled tonic water, preferably Fever-Tree premium Indian tonic water
- 2 dashes of lemon bitters
- 1 lemon wheel, for garnish

Fill a chilled highball glass with ice. Add the rum, tonic water and lemon bitters and stir well. Garnish the drink with the lemon wheel.
