      Malibu Driver

THIS PAGE MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE.

The Malibu Driver is one of the simplest cocktail recipes out there, with just two ingredients: Malibu coconut rum and orange juice. Because it includes two ounces of the coconut rum, that flavor balances the sweet-tartness of the orange juice, and you get a flavor that’s mellow with no rough edges.

This drink looks and tastes like summertime in a glass, but that doesn’t mean it’s just a summer drink. In cold or dreary weather, The Malibu Driver can make you feel like it’s summer. Just remember not to look out the window.

It’s got enough orange juice to make a difference in your vitamin C intake for the day, and it’s not a particularly strong cocktail. That makes it a nice choice for a brunch or party. You can definitely make this one up in pitchers ahead of time and serve it chilled.

While it seems most people enjoy the combination of orange and coconut, some don’t. Of course, that’s true of any cocktail you could name. But generally speaking, this one is a crowd pleaser.

Ice is optional with this one. The flavors are strong enough to stand up to a little watering down, so if you’re wanting it to stay cold, don’t hesitate to toss a couple of cubes in. You could also pour it over crushed ice, although that will water it down more quickly.

This is such an easy drink to make, because there’s no shaking involved. You just pour your ingredients in, stir it up and serve it. That makes it a great choice when you have guests unexpectedly and no time to make something in advance. It’s a good recipe to keep on standby.

If you like this, you might want to check out the Piñarita Cocktail, a blended drink that’s somewhere between a piña colada and a mango margarita, with both orange juice and Malibu rum in the mix.

This has been a favorite drink of mine for years. While visiting Belize, our tour guide talked about this drink, which was a regular for me, but he called it the “panty ripper”.

My husband thought he’d be smart and order it by that nakpme back home and of course the bartender thought he was nuts.

I find it refreshing anytime of year.

Haha Lori, That’s a good story. I can so picture sipping this drink in Belize. Wonderful setting!

You’re NOT gonna believe this story: I’m working today at the liquor store and this lady, Shelly, came in for a Malibu recipe. So, I googled it and she picked this one.

I was like OMG! That’s my sister’s site!

    Malibu Summer Rose Cocktail

I have this awesome co-worker… her name is Summer and she’s always making me laugh, which I truly need sometimes at work. She recently told me a story about this drink called a Malibu Summer Rose Cocktail.

Sign up for my email subscription and never miss a recipe!

This cocktail is named after her… How freakin’ cool is that? Summer’s mom, Jewel Hanson, won a contest (Think of a Drink) held by Malibu Rum in the late 1980’s. Well, Mrs. Jewel came up with this drink recipe and named it after her daughter (Summer Rose). She nailed it like a champ and won the contest. Not to mention a full-on cruise to the Bahamas.

I must meet this woman. Soon.

It was all I could do to take these pictures after tasting this drink…

It was so good, I had two. Oops.

The very first photo (my favorite) happened by accident. It’s a truly natural reflection of my evening after work. I plopped down in my adirondack chair by my little flower garden to sip on it after I took the other photos, and decided to photograph it.

Some of the best things happen by accident.

So a big ‘ole cheers to summer (the season), Summer (my friend) and Mrs. Jewel for coming up with such an awesome drink!

Be sure to follow me on social media so you’ll never miss a recipe!

    Malibu Rum Drinks

Malibu Rum is truly wonderful drink, isn’t it? It can be used in cooking, baking, or you can drink it? Why is it so popular?

The reason it is so popular is merely because it is a refreshing alcoholic beverage, which many people drink all year round in various cocktails. It is most popular in summer, simply due to the coconut after taste which the drink provides.

However, Malibu wasn’t originally designed to be drank by itself. It was originally created in Curacao in order to simplify the Pina Colada recipe for bartenders, but since then it has become extremely popular; as is now drank in all sorts of different ways.

With the height of Summer right around the corner, what better time is there to enjoy a refreshing Malibu drink? I know I will be!

    • ¾ Oz Banana Liqueur
    • ¾ Oz Blue Curacao Liqueur
    • 1 Oz Whipped Cream
    • Pineapple Juice
    • A Cherry

For the ever so popular Afghan Monkey, you need to simply mix all of the ingredient over ice, give it a good shake and strain the juice out. Serve it in a cocktail glass, and add the whipped cream and the cherry! The Afghan Monkey is a pretty strong drink, with rich fruity tones complimenting the mellow Malibu rum.

The Afghan Monkey is a delightful cocktail to beat the summer heat, the various fruit liqueurs all work together to provide a fruit explosion within your mouth. You won’t find yourself putting down this cocktail, it has the potential to become an overall favourite this summer.

    • ½ Pineapple
    • 1 Lemon
    • 1 Green Apple
    • 1 Orange
    • 1 Handful Ice
    • 500ml Raspberry Yoghurt
    • 3 Oz Orange Juice
    • 8 Oz Malibu Rum

For an Eskimo Joe, all you need to do is peel the fruit (lemon, pineapple, apple, orange) and then place it all in a blender, along with ice, the rum, and yoghurt and juice – and switch it on for a minute. Once it’s all done, pour it into a pitcher and you’re ready to go! An Eskimo Joe is an incredibly easy going drink, with plenty of punchy fruit to tantalize your taste buds, from the rich pineapple taste – to the sour lemon taste, all the refreshment you could ever need will be found in this recipe.

The Eskimo Joe is a rather different cocktail, adding yoghurt to a cocktail has been done before; but it isn’t as common as you would think. It definitely works with this cocktail though, adding a more thorough raspberry flavour into the drink, which complements the pure pineapple juice.

This is an extremely refreshing drink, with a sour after taste!

    • 1 oz Melon Liqueur
    • ½ oz Malibu Rum
    • 2 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
    • Lemonade

This cocktail is extremely easy, no messing about with blenders! You can make this cocktail wherever you are, simply put the ingredient in a glass – and give it a stir. You’re done, enjoy the mellow Caribbean taste originating from the Malibu Rum, which is overpowered by the lemon and lime taste from the sweet and sour mix.

You will either love Kermit the Frog, or hate Kermit the Frog. It’s a bit like Marmite, there is no in-between. If you quite like a sour burst in your drinks, then you will most likely love this drink! It’s worth giving it a shot though, as if you do like it – you’ll like it a lot.

This truly is one of the most popular cocktails that incorporates Malibu rum into the recipe, it is gorgeous and very fruity! If you’re enjoying your holiday, or tanning yourself in the back garden – try this cocktail, the fruity burst of refreshment will simply take you to a whole new place!

    • 1 ¼ oz Malibu Rum
    • ¾ Oz Orange Liqueur
    • Orange Juice
    • Pineapple Juice
    • Cranberry Juice

Simply add the orange liqueur and Malibu rum into a cocktail glass, and pour the three juices down the side of the glass in this specific order: orange, pineapple and cranberry. If you want a stronger coconut taste, simply add a little bit more Malibu. Please note this drink is 15% (30 Proof) if you follow the recipe.

Oceanic Drives is one of the fruitiest cocktails you will ever taste. This is because it makes use of pure fruit juices, rather than fruity liqueurs – this means that the fruit taste isn’t tarnished by the alcohol, providing a more thorough taste, which you are sure to love. Oceanic Drives is a wonderful cocktail to enjoy on the beach.

Paradise is a relatively new cocktail that incorporates Malibu Rum into the recipe, but believe me – it isn’t for the faint hearted. Here’s the recipe:

    • 1 ozof Malibu Rum
    • 1 Oz of Vodka
    • 1 Oz of Cranberry Juice
    • ½ oz of Apple Juice

Simply add into a cocktail shaker, and give it a good shake before serving with ice in a cocktail glass. Please note this drink is very strong, there is more alcoholic drinks in it than there is juice, so you can reduce the alcohol content if you wish.

You are sure to love the Paradise cocktail. It isn’t for the faint hearted though, with over 2 oz of alcohol in a cocktail glass, take it slow. It is fairly easy to drink, but you’ll definitely be able to taste the vodka. Many people don’t like the taste of pure vodka, luckily for you the two fruit juices within Paradise complement the vodka really well, making it an easy drink.

The Italian Nut is a different type of cocktail, while the majority have been extremely fruit based so far – we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the nutty after taste of the Italian Nut.

To make the Italian Nut, you’ll need:

    • 1 oz Malibu Rum
    • 1 oz Almond Liqueur
    • 4 oz Orange Juice
    • A splash of grenadine syrup

Add all of these ingredients into a cocktail shaker, and give it a solid shake for around 30 seconds. This will ensure that all of the ingredients are thoroughly mixed together, giving you a more consistent drink. Pour it into a glass, or a pitcher if you made a lot of it, and stick a cherry on top.

This is another drink you will either love or hate, the vast majority love it! If you don’t like the taste of nuts, it probably isn’t for you. Luckily, the nutty taste isn’t too strong, and is complemented quite well by the 4 oz of Orange Juice which is present in the drink, and the coconut taste that the Malibu Rum provide. All in all, this cocktail is a great drink.
