10 Alcoholic Drinks that Can Improve Your Sex Life
With ingredients like cardamom, ginger, jasmine and chili peppers, these 10 cocktails & non-alcoholic drinks will get you revved up and ready for some action.
Can a cocktail facilitate better sex? Sure, once you’ve had a certain amount of alcohol, your inhibitions begin to slip away – but when you add certain ingredients to a drink, the effects are even greater. Aphrodisiacs like ginger, honey, vanilla, hot peppers and saffron get your blood pumping, flood your brain with feel-good chemicals and increase hormone levels to heighten arousal, increase your stamina and just plain get you in the mood. And the starring ingredients in these 10 libido-boosting drinks (both the hard kind and the non-alcoholic) will please your taste buds, too.
Who can resist the aromatic allure of cardamom? This stimulating seed pod, which is often used as a natural treatment for impotence, packs a lot of flavor into a small package. Pair it with romantic rose in the Cardamom Rose Cocktail by Apothecary, featured at Design Sponge. Rose and cucumber-infused Hendrick’s gin, homemade rose syrup, grapefruit juice, bitters and a single cardamom pod are combined into a sophisticated drink in a beautiful shade of petal-pink.
Kiwi Blackberry Summer Sangria
Helping to control all-important progesterone levels in both men and women, zinc is essential to a healthy libido. It’s found in a wide variety of food sources including pumpkin seeds, mushrooms and spinach – but when it comes to drinks, the tastiest ways to get it are blackberries and kiwi. Yummy Mummy has a recipe for a sweet-sounding Kiwi Blackberry Sangria that includes white wine and fresh mint. Try juicing or just blending up additional blackberries in place of the berry juice to get an extra punch of this mineral.
Ginger Mango Granita (Non-Alcoholic)
Ginger enhances blood flow down below, and pairs perfectly with sensual, sticky-sweet mango. This Ginger Mango Granita recipe from Food Network brings the two together into a refreshing frozen treat that’s non-alcoholic (but would be off-the-charts delicious with a little champagne.)
Renowned as an aphrodisiac for centuries, jasmine is said to induce a euphoric response. This night-blooming flower is certainly romantic, and an exotic addition to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Try the light and refreshing Mango Jasmine Bubble Tea, which includes frozen mango, jasmine tea and tapioca pearls. The distillery Koval offers an organic, floral jasmine liqueur, and a recipe for a drink called “Koval’s Crossing” that mixes it with lime, mint, cucumber and rosemary.
Chili peppers are another powerful ingredient for enhancing blood flow and stimulating the release of feel-good endorphins. Infuse a little gin or vodka with a slice of your favorite pepper – from a medium-heat serrano to a fiery scotch bonnet – and balance it with some honey and lemon. Get the recipe for “The Spicy Lemon” at Tokyo Terrace.
It’s called a honeymoon for a reason – honey has been tied to sexual desire for so long that it was once custom for newlyweds to down mead for a month after marrying. The B vitamins in honey aid in the production of testosterone, and it’s also a great energy booster. Add it to vanilla – the scent of which is a powerful aphrodisiac for both sexes – and you’ve got quite the winning combination. Epicurious has a recipe for a super-simple Vanilla Honey Martini that lets these two ingredients shine.
Mexican Hot Chocolate Martini
We associate chocolate with pleasure, sin – and, of course, sex. Chocolate stimulates the production of dopamine in the brain and is packed with all kinds of stimulating substances like caffeine. It’s also a natural mood booster, and helps improve stress levels so you can relax. Combine some dark cocoa powder with a little ground chipotle pepper in the dessert-worthy Mexican Hot Chocolate Martini at Noche Latina. Of course, the non-alcoholic version is delicious, too.
Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters
Sliding a slimy raw oyster down your gullet may not sound like the sexiest thing to do, but there’s some scientific research to back up claims that oysters are among the most powerful aphrodisiacs. The amino acids in raw oysters, which are at their highest levels in the spring, increase production of testosterone in men and progesterone in women. Make them more palatable (and add some extra libido-boosting power) with spicy Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters. Be sure to eat that celery, too – it contains androsterone, a hormone that stimulates arousal. And as long as you don’t mind the effects on your breath, add a little garlic, while you’re at it – it contains a heat-inducing component that can get you even more riled up.
Honey, Saffron & Ginger Champagne Cocktail
Spicy ginger, soothing honey and warm, comforting saffron are mixed into a dreamy champagne cocktail in this recipe from Eat Boutique. It involves making your own honey and saffron liqueur – which may seem intimidating, but is actually quite a simple process. You’re simply infusing some vodka with vanilla, honey, cinnamon, peppercorns, saffron, nutmeg and lemon in a saucepan on the stovetop. Researchers have discovered that along with ginseng (which you can add to virtually any drink in tincture form), saffron is nature’s most potent aphrodisiac.
How many aphrodisiacs can you pack into one drink? The Lucky Devil is an alcohol-free cocktail with cinnamon, cardamom, honey and saffron. Developed by New York City’s Museum of Sex, the recipe includes homemade cinnamon and cardamom elixirs, granulated honey and a saffron rock candy garnish.

Aquafaba Cocktail Party: Drinks and Dips
Yesterday, we told you what aquafaba is, and now it's time to learn a fun way to use it. Although usually the first thoughts to use an egg white replacer is in desserts, egg whites are also common in mixed drinks to give them a nice body and foamy top.
We took two cocktail recipes that required egg whites and made the original recipe along with an aquafaba version to see how the egg-free option compared. We replaced each large egg white with 3 tablespoons of un-foamed aquafaba. It gets plenty foamy in the cocktail shakers, trust us.
Our first attempt was a pom clover club. We made them both exactly the same and the egg white version came out significantly foamier, sweeter, and paler than the aquafaba drink. The aquafaba drink definitely had a stronger flavor which allowed you to really taste each individual ingredient that went in.
The second drink was a green grape pisco sour. Surprisingly both were equally foamy and the aquafaba came out a bit cloudier this time. Same as before though, the egg white version was much sweeter/milder while the strong tastes of lime and green grapes shone through in the one with aqaufaba.
The verdict: Both are good choices for cocktails. They function practically the same, but the aquafaba is a great option for vegans, those with egg allergies, or anyone worried about consuming raw eggs. Just be aware that cocktails may not be as sweet as originally intended, so adjust ingredients accordingly.
So as to not waste anything, we used the aquafaba from a can of chickpeas for the drinks and then blended the beans themselves into two types of hummus, traditional and roasted red pepper. This is the perfect combo of snacks and drinks for a simplistic (and egg-free) cocktail party.

What Are HIV Booster Drugs and How Do They Work?
Question: What Are HIV Booster Drugs and How Do They Work?
Answer: There are drugs used in the treatment of HIV that can increase the plasma concentration of certain antiretroviral agents (ARVs) when used in combination therapy. Popularly known as "boosters," the drugs allow doctors to reduce the dosage and frequency of the attendant ARV, while lowering the potential for drug-related side effects.
HIV boosters, also known as pharmokinetic enhancers, should not be confused with vitamins or supplements marketed as "immune boosters," which have no known properties for either preventing or fighting HIV infection.
The Introduction of HIV Boosters
When HIV protease inhibitors (PIs) were first discovered in the mid-1990s, one the main challenges to researchers was the rapid speed in which the drugs were metabolized in the liver and cleared from the bloodstream. As a result, PIs required twice- to thrice-daily dosing. Not only did the high dosages increase the risk of drug toxicities, the high pill burden made adherence all the more difficult (and the development of resistance all the more likely).
In 1996, the drug Norvir (ritonavir) was approved for use in HIV by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While the drug was known to have antiviral properties, it was soon discovered that, even at a very low doses, it could inhibit the very enzyme (CYP3A4) needed to metabolize PIs.
The discovery immediately impacted the way in which PIs were prescribed. Today, Norvir is rarely used for its antiviral action, but rather to increase the efficacy of the attendant PIs, while reducing the adverse effects associated with therapy.
The drug is also a component of the fixed dose combination PI, Kaletra (lopinavir + ritonavir).
(Please note - Norvir can interfere with plasma concentrations of other drugs you may be taking, sometimes resulting in serious to severe interactions. Please advise your doctor about any concomitant medications you are using when either Norvir or Kaletra is prescribed.)
The Future of HIV Boosters
In recent years, there has been much focus placed the development of other HIV boosters. It is envisioned that similar agents might not only further extend the efficacy of PIs, but do the same for other classes of ARVs—potentially affording unified, once-daily doses, while allowing greater "forgiveness" should doses be missed or a gap in therapy occur.
In 2012, a full 16 years after the introduction of Norvir, a second booster drug was finally approved by the FDA. Tybost (cobicistat), a component of the fixed dose combination drug Stribild (elvitegravir + cobicistat + tenofovir + emtricitabine), is shown to inhibit both the CYP3A4 enzyme and certain intestinal proteins known to interfere with drug absorption.
While it has no antiviral properities of its own, Tybost is able to increase the efficacy of elvitegravir, an HIV integrase inhibitor, while achieving similar results with the PIs Reyataz (atazanavir) and Prezista (darunavir) and the nucleotide analogue Viread (tenofovir).
In early 2015, the FDA approved two, fixed dose combination drugs incorporating Tybost, including Evotaz (atazanvir + cobicistat) and Prezcobix (darunavir + cobicistat).
Other experimental boosters are under investigation, including a novel CYP3A4 inhibitor being developed by Sequoia Pharmaceuticals.

Perfect Liver Cleanse Cocktail with an Energy Booster
Perfect Liver Cleanse Cocktail with an Energy Booster
It’s the new year and most of us are thinking about those resolutions. I’m not too big on resolutions but one thing I want to do is take care of my body better. It’s time to flush all the toxins out and give myself a fresh start for the new year. I think of it as changing the oil in my body to make it run better. Almost like you do for your car. I’m working with a nutrition coach on she is the one that gave me this recipe concoction. I’ve gotta tell you. It sucked the first day. I was able to drink it but I wasn’t used to the taste at all. By the time I got to the second day it really wasn’t all that bad. The third day I think I may have craved it. I wanted a cleanse that would boost my energy levels and help with cravings. My husband is doing this cleanse with me because of all the alcohol he drank over the holidays. We have both noticed a big difference in how we feel!
This liver cleanse cocktail consists of only a few ingredients:
- 4 oz – Pure Unsweetened Cranberry Juice (not the kind that’s loaded with sugar that are found at your local grocery store but rather these brands found on Amazon or at your local health food store)
- 1/2 Fresh squeezed Lemon
- 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg Organic is the BEST!)
- Ice
- 4 oz Water
- B-12 Drops (25 drops)
Combine all the above ingredients and mix well. Drink up!
I have learned that the liver is one of the most important organs in our body. It filters out all the toxins and waste from the blood. It’s aids in digestion by manufacturing proteins, metabolizing fat, storing nutrients and carbohydrates.
This concoction will help rid the liver of harmful substances by keeping the body’s pH levels from becoming too acidic, a condition that can make a person vulnerable to weight resistance and disease.
The B-12 Drops are the secret ingredient that give you a serious energy boost! You should also be able to find these at your local health food store or there are plenty of good ones here on Amazon too.
Did you know? Your liver metabolizes 80% of your body’s fat. It purifies 4 pints of blood per minute. And it produces bile to help metabolize fat. This is why it’s extremely important to cleanse the liver.
Feel free to do this routine for a full 21 days! My nutritionist tells me she does this daily all the time. I might just continue it after the 21 days because of how good I feel.
Another tip she gave me along with eating sensibly is to snack sensibly too. She introduced me to the ThinkThin bars. I’ve never been into bars of any kind because of the sugar but these have no sugar with high protein and they actually taste good. They are considered a Lo Gi food and Gluten free product! My favorite is the Peanut Butter Thinkthin bar. YUM.
I plan to add the Top 5 Super Foods to my lifestyle change too. This will be fairly simple to do.
What are you doing different to start off the new year right? Do you have any goals? New Years Resolutions?

I have been drinking this on an empty stomach each morning. I saw it on Dr. Berg on YouTube. He didn’t use the B12. I also read this is good to stop excessive menstrual bleeding. I started it for this reason. It seems to be working. I don’t know how it works though.
If you were using tabkets insead of drops, how many grans would you use?
I’m sorry, I don’t have a clue. I would go by the recommended dosage on the bottle. I’ve also heard that you should but those under your tongue to dissolve. I prefer the drops myself.
Good afternoon. Do you have to put the B-12 drops in for the entire 21 days?
This is what my nutritionist told me to do. I would consult with yours.
Started this on 11/28/15. I’m only on day 4. I didn’t find this too tart, I’m used to drinking ACV and water in the morning. So far so good. Feel a bit more energetic, but should learn to go to bed earlier. LOL. Me and my husband are doing this together. I’ll let you know after 21 days.
denise brinkey says
I bought the concentrated cranberry juice. How much of that do I use per dose?
Just drank my first and I have to say it does not taste that bad, but I am use to drink ACV.
Do you think fresh or frozen whole cranberrys would put thru the blender would do the same as cranberry juice? Thought could make it into a smoothie. I have one every morning with fruit and spinach and always add apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to it.
I would think the fresh or frozen cranberrys would be just fine. Actually it would probably come out thick and icy like a slushy. YUM! I might have to try that myself.
I just want to be clear- that is 25 drops of the B-12 in one drink, correct?
Does this help with weight loss any?
I noticed my energy spiked which caused me to get more stuff done leading to a drop in a few pounds. So my answer would be yes but only because of how it made me feel and I was more active. Does that make sense?
can you take a B12 pill instead of putting it in the drink?
I’ve asked this question too. Yes you can. It comes in liquid as well and you can put a few drops under your tongue.
It calls for 25 drops of B12, my dropper is 1ml, 1000mg per drop. Do I still put 25 drops? That’s a lot of b12.
I’m not sure I’m understanding you. I fill up my dropper about 1/2 way full and I count out each drop that falls in the glass up to a total of 25. Does that help?
Different droppers may “drop” at different volumes – I think Lori is saying with her dropper, she would be putting a total of 25,000mg in her drink, and wants to verify if that is correct or too much B12 in one serving.
I started this today and I see everyone and had no problem drinking the whole this. saying it taste sour but I like it . So I want to know is this a one a day drink?
Yes, only once a day. I can’t believe you like it! lol. That’s awesome
Thank tou for sharing this
You’re welcome Kerri!
OH. MY. GOODNESS. I have never tasted anything so sour in my life. Can’t imagine it getting any easier but will push through it. Since it tastes so awful, it must be good for us, right?
That is EXACTLY how I felt on day one. Horrible! It does get better. Promise.
Is it ok to add to the drink to help with the sour taste? For example, frozen pineapple and green grapes?
I’ve only added more water to help dilute it a bit to get rid of the sour taste. I wouldn’t add too many sugary items to the drink.
Tabitha @ Saving Toward a Better Life says
It’s really SOUR. I mean, almost unbearably. Did I do something wrong?
Yes! This is exactly my reaction when I took my first taste too. I could hardly down the stuff. I can tell you it will get better. You can add a bit more water to help dilute it a bit but that’s just more to drink in my opinion. By day three you won’t think much about the taste and you may even crave it like I did. My nutritionist tells me it’s balancing the levels in my body. I honestly believe her.
Tabitha @ Saving Toward a Better Life says
I mixed up my first drink late in the day and wasn’t able to finish it. (Heck, I think I barely drank 2 ounces of it after 4 hours of sipping on it!) Put it in the fridge and was able to finish it the next day.) Day two and three weren’t too bad. It still took me a couple hours to get through it. I kept having to add ice or put it in the fridge for a while – seems like the colder it is the easier it is to drink. Today was day 4 but I couldn’t finish half of it. I’m battling a bit of a sore throat and this drink felt like flames going down my throat. LOL. I put it in the fridge and hopefully I’ll be able to finish it tomorrow.
I did a little research and I agree with you about balancing levels in your body. I’ve read research about how our bodies are so brainwashed to crave sugar, salt and oil. I think this drink will pretty much kill those cravings…. or maybe just my taste buds. LOL
Drink #5 went down pretty easily! Persistence pays off!
Yay! Awesome. How are you feeling? I started feeling like I had much more energy.
I thought it was yummy from day one!
Maybe you missed it but someone asked how much you spent on these ingredients. Was it expensive?
Not too expensive considering the health benefit I gain from it. I have linked the best deals I’ve found for these ingredients in my article. You might keep your eyes on sales for the cranberry juice.
For the 3 day do I only drink this or can I have solid food as well
I eat sensible. Regular food that is healthy. I just add this liver cleanse to my daily routine. Don’t skip meals.
Do you eat regular meals and one of these at day?
Eat regular meals and do this drink cleanse only once a day.
How many days do you do the cleanse for?
I do this daily. Every day. Only once a day though. It really helps with my cravings. I would at least do it for 21 days straight. I just prefer to keep it up. It has really helped me with energy too.
How much money did you send on getting all the ingredients?
Do you just eat normally while you’re doing this cleanse?
How is often do u drink it? Is it once a day or more?
Good question! Yes, only once a day.
Can you make more than just for one day at a time and keep in fridge?
I haven’t tried it. I don’t know that I would do that though. You never know if the b12 or lemon will end up at the bottom or not. Ya know?
What time of the day do you drink this?
I drink mine after my coffee and breakfast but before lunch. I don’t think it really matters though.

Hosting a Cocktail Party
Cocktail parties have been a popular social gathering for years. They were a hit during the first few decades of the 1900's, were fueled by Prohibition, and died off a little during the last part of the century, but they're back.
Cocktail parties are great for entertaining friends or business associates, or a combination of the two. They're also great for open houses or receptions, both business and personal.
The average cocktail party lasts 2-3 hours during which guests snack on a simple spread of food and imbibe on great cocktails while chatting with other guests. It's actually quite an easy event to plan and there are so many options available.
Party Decisions
A cocktail party can be as simple or complex as you wish to make it. There are a few questions you should ask yourself to begin planning a party:
- How many guests will be attending?
- Is this a casual event for friends or a formal business networking event?
- How much time and effort do I want to put into it?
- Will there be a full bar or a limited cocktail menu?
- Will the party be indoor or outdoor? If outdoor, do I have a plan for inclimate weather?
- What type of food will be served?
- Is there a theme for the party?
- Should guests be asked to bring anything?
- How much money do I want to spend?
Planning the Food
A full course meal is not necessary for a cocktail party.
Simple foods, such as hors d'oeuvres and other finger foods, allow guests to graze throughout the event as they feel the need.
Some tried-and-true cocktail party foods such as bruschetta and tapenade and crackers are perfect for almost any taste. Even something as simple as a cheese, crackers and cut fruit platter is perfect for the casual party.
To be a good host you should have some kind of food available and if you don't want to deal with food at all, call a caterer.
Planning the Drinks
Obviously, the drinks are the most important part of a cocktail party and there are two options.
- Full Bar: If you opt for this you give guests the option to choose their favorite drink. This is great if you have a well-stocked bar or if you're willing to buy the essential spirits and are able to mix up a variety of drinks (or have a good bartending guide).
- Drink Menu: This is my favorite because it encourages people to step out of their drinking routine. You’ll also save money because you don’t need a fully stocked bar. Make up a list of the drinks (including ingredients) and set it on the bar for guests to peruse.
- How Much Liquor, Beer, and Wine to Stock for a Great Party
Get Some Help
Only the ultimate host or hostess can do everything on their own and still be available to socialize with guests. The rest of us need some help.
Ask friends or family if they'd be willing to handle the food or bartend for the event and if that doesn't work hire out the work. Many catering companies also provide bartending services so this is logical if you're already calling the caterer or you could ask an aspiring or young bartender if they'd like the experience.
It's always nice to offer your bartender (pro or amateur) a tip jar for guests to contribute to.
Helpful Hints for a Great Party
- Make sure you have all of the essential bar tools.
- Send invitations early, but not too early, 2-3 weeks should be sufficient unless it's a busy time of year like November and December.

Myers’ Cocktail with Immune System Boost
Myers’ Cocktail with Immune System Boost is specially formulated with more vitamin C to fight infections and deliver optimum health. Vitamin C is one of the most popular alternative medicine treatments. Alternative Health Practioners use IV vitamin C to treat infections, autoimmune disease, and illnesses of uncertain origin. A 2006 survey of these practioners reported that of the 199 surveyed, 172 used IV vitamin C for treating patients (Padayatty et al., 2010). Vitamin C, as part of a Myers’ Cocktail, provides increased support to naturally fight viral infections.
The Immune System Boost contains zinc to avoid or reduce the length of viruses. Zinc prevents the rhinovirus from multiplying. A case study done by Dr. Alan Gaby, M.D. reported that over half the patients who received a Myers’ Cocktail reported their symptoms were either nonexistent after one treatment or greatly improved by the next morning (Gaby M.D., 2002).The combination of vitamin C and zinc is the protection form viruses your body needs to stay healthy.
