Cocktail bar munich
Couch Club
Couch Club is a gin lover’s paradise. With over 130 varieties in stock, this cocktail bar is equipped to prepare a large array of gin-based drinks. Gin tastings are offered frequently and participants have the opportunity to sample over 100 types of gin and tonics. For those who do not care too much for gin, there are many other options on the extensive cocktail menu. This cozy spot has plenty of sofas for guests to chill out on and enjoy a relaxing drink with friends. Good music, foosball, snacks and great drinks await at the Couch Club.
Padres is the place to go for sports fans. It has the feel of a typical American sports bar with a big-screen television and sports memorabilia on the walls, but also has a few quirks – such as the silver Zeppelin that runs back and forth above the bar. Seating is only available at the long, narrow bar in the front section but it allows for a prime view of the bartenders creating their cocktail masterpieces. The drinks menu features over 120 cocktails, which are all prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients and reasonably priced.
Zephyr is an exciting cocktail bar in the heart of Munich that turns making cocktails into an art form – the cocktails look as good as they taste. Using fresh ingredients and many local spirits, Zephyr is able to concoct a truly satisfying cocktail experience. Creations such as the вЂMicrowave Safe’ and вЂVoodoo Swizzle’ are a perfect complement to the cool atmosphere. Zephyr has even been recognized by the New York Times as being one of the best spots for a drink in Munich.
Menehune Bar
Menehune Bar is located inside Hotel Bayerischer Hof’s famous Trader Vic’s Restaurant and is very popular among the locals. Exotic cocktails are created in this Polynesian-themed setting. The mai tai and tiki puka puka are just a couple of the many options available. The dark colors and yellow lights create an elegant atmosphere, and visiting the Menehune Bar is a must for those searching for a relaxing, elegant night out with delectable drinks.
Cocktail House
The Cocktail House has been part of the Schwabing area of Munich for over thirty years. Its interior gives off a romantic vibe that is reminiscent of days past – this is a great spot for a night out with a special someone. Entire rooms at the Cocktail House can be booked Sunday to Thursday, so make sure to reserve a table ahead of time for larger groups. There are daily specials and with cocktails on the stronger side, this cozy cocktail bar is a great place to enjoy a casual drink.
The Martini Club
Inspired by the Prohibition era, The Martini Club has a smooth, classy elegance that will transport visitors back to the 1920s. This sophisticated cocktail bar offers all sorts of classics, plus a few new creations. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and guests are sure to be delighted by their concoctions. For those who want to learn how to make drinks like the professionals, The Martini Club welcomes them to вЂThe Academy’ for a range of fun cocktail-making classes.
Negroni Bar
Negroni Bar has a selection of 140 cocktails on offer. Drinks are both modern and classic and will entice the taste buds of every visitor. This classic American-style bar focuses on quality, which is reflected in its delicious cocktail creations. A small menu of Mediterranean dishes is available and pairs perfectly with the drink selection. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy their cocktails outside on the cozy terrace. Negroni Bar has won several awards for its high quality concoctions and is a great spot for a sophisticated night out.
Ben’s Bar
Ben’s Bar is a Caribbean cocktail bar with strong Cuban influences, and has great drink specials – including all-night happy hour on Tuesday and Friday. Ben’s won вЂBest Cocktail’ at the Gastro-Challenge 2007, and came away with second place in the Upper Bavaria Gastronomy Prize in 2009. Being a Cuban-inspired bar, there is of course a large selection of rum-based cocktails, including a daiquiri menu. For those with an appetite while drinking, Ben’s offers a selection of burgers.
Nieder Lassung
Nieder Lassung is the sister bar of Couch Club, and has many of the same great features – lots of gin, comfy sofas and good music. The interior is reminiscent of a library with walls covered in shelves of books, helpingВ to create a relaxing ambiance. There is always a special вЂbeer of the month,’ and on Sundays, Nieder Lassung shows вЂTatort’, the longest running German-language television series, on the big high definition TVs. This is a popular event so make sure to come early to get a seat.
Havana Club
The Havana Club brings a little slice of Cuban paradise to Munich. The interior has remained mostly unchanged since the bar opened in 1985, including its green walls, dim lighting and dark wooden bar. This bar features some of the best rum that the Caribbean has to offer, which professional bartenders use to create exotic cocktails such as the mojito and blackberry daiquiri. The Havana Club is a low key, yet elegant hangout where friends can meet in a relaxed atmosphere and unwind after a long day.
The 5 Best Cocktail Bars in Munich
Germany’s beer culture is an integral part of its history—after all, it’s the fourth-largest beer-producing nation in the world. But although it’s known for its brews, the country is spurring a new movement in cocktails, too.
Leading the charge is Munich, a city normally associated with Oktoberfest—and one that’s emerged as the epicenter of Germany’s mixology scene, which embraces new and inventive flavors and techniques. At these five bars, you’ll be able to taste firsthand why cocktail enthusiasts are particularly excited about Munich.
Set near the banks of the Isar River, the delightfully minimalist Zephyr is where you will find a top selection of gins blended with fresh ingredients like local fruits, herbs and flowers. Helmed by Lukas Motejzik, the bar puts an unconventional spin on homemade drinks, using things like cucumber-dill juice, sesame oil or banana-parsley purée as the base for cocktails. Garnishes are similarly kicked up a notch: torched meringue inside a halved passion fruit, a bushel of fresh basil or mint, fragrant coffee beans, or charred cinnamon sticks.
Located in Munich’s city center, Herzog Restaurant & Bar is one of the city’s newest drinking dens. Inside, there’s a convivial lounge area where a black concrete bar counter takes center stage. Order drinks like the Jägermeister-based Auntie Hula, made with honey, cherry, mashed pineapple and dark berry, or the gin-based Far Away Gimlet, made with shiso leaf, rhubarb and ginger, all served in an owl chalice—feathers included.
Tucked within The Charles Hotel in central Munich, Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar features well-balanced and imaginative drinks created by Roman Kern. Kern reinvents the classics by mixing cocktails with natural essences like dried fruits and vegetables, powdered liqueurs, frozen herbs and pickling spices. Schisho, a vodka-based cocktail with chile, pomegranate, fresh lime, coconut and an egg white is a real standout. But if you don’t see anything that speaks to you, just ask: Kern is known to create bespoke cocktails upon request.
A popular post-opera haunt located on the first floor of Schumann's Bar am Hofgarten, Schumann’s Les Fleurs du Mal is one of the most established bars in Munich. With a single 27-foot-long table crafted out of a single walnut tree, the decor fosters conversation, as does Dietmar Petri’s impressive cocktail menu, consisting of so much variety (150 types of whiskies, absinthes, cognacs and other rare spirits) that you’ll inevitably need to ask your neighbor for some advice. May offerings feature unusual twists, such as a carrot espuma or balsamic reduction.
Built in 1937 and located in Haus der Kunst, Goldene Bar features an ornate outdoor terrace and an extensive cocktail list that’s attracted discerning cocktail aficionados in droves. Expect homemade bitters, soda and an array of special syrups like chamomile, passion fruit and agave. Exemplary drinks include the hot buttered coconut rum, made with hot coconut water, Falernum syrup and homemade herbed-and-spiced butter.
Pack your passport—and an appetite—as we hit the world's hottest culinary destinations on and off the grid all month long. Now Boarding: your next trip to paradise.

For my best friends birthday, her family and I enjoyed a lovely dinner up on the roof terrace of the hotel. The view was beautiful, and the location superb for overlooking munich's city center. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. The loungy atmosphere made us feel very relaxed. The seating however was the only critique I can give, as there were five of us, which meant that we could not sit at a proper dinner table, but on couches and a lower set table which made eating dinner a bit more difficult. Nonetheless, I can definitely recommend!

Mandarin Oriental, Munich
We stayed at this hotel during August, while renovations were occurring there. Overall, this hotel has some of the best personnel that we have encountered in our many years of travel. They are friendly, helpful and spend a lot of time getting to know you and remembering your preferences. The head Barman is a superstar - and a thorough gentleman, The rooftop bar and restaurant afford a very pleasant opportunity to look out onto the skyline of Munich, while sipping on a cocktail
The hotel is very centrally located, just off the Maximiliantrasse within walking distance to most of Munich's attractions. The rooms are very comfortable and well serviced.
Overall we wouldn't hesitate staying there again

I thank you for the compliments, especially in regards to our Bar Manager José who obviously managed to provide MO’s legendary service from the heart for the last 25 years at Mandarin Oriental, Munich.
I am absolutely thrilled to learn that you liked the hotel with its central location and that you appreciated our high service standards.
Thank you for being a “FAN” of Mandarin Oriental, Munich. My team and I are looking forward to your return visit to Mandarin Oriental, Munich in the near future.

Our experience at the mandarine was amazing even though there were extensive renovations happening. The most pleasurable was the roof top bar, the CHina BLue restaurant a must for anyone visiting Munich, views are spectacular and the food delicious, booking are a must as the restaurant only opens when the weather is beautiful

I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again to Mandarin Oriental, Munich in the near future.

Mandarin Oriental, Munich
I've stayed at four other hotels in Prague, and consider this the top, but that may not be surprising considering it's a Mandarin Oriental. The staff is amazing and so very gracious. The woman who greets you for breakfast, the bartenders, the doormen, the front desk staff. all are clearly the top in their class. The rooms are sublime, and what you'd expect from a M-O. The location is nice because it's two blocks away from the main tourist drag and three from Charles Bridge, so you're out of the craziness but still close if you've come to see the sights. The area is quiet, near embassies and nice restaurants. The tram is three blocks away, so that can take you to other parts of the city and the subway line, if you're so inclined.
- Stayed September 2015, traveled with friends
Stayed here in may so my review is a bit late.I visited munich with my wife and 14 year old son and stayed in a junior suite.Munich hotels are very expensive compared to berlin and frankfurt in my opinion and we paid a large amount for the room.We were aware of mandarin oriental service having stayed in hong kong in december 2012 but were unaware of the standards they have set.
Best location in munich..walking distance to marienplatz and shopping area..little far to walk to english garden but they offer free cycles which we didnt try.
staff were polite, efficient, helpful and knew us by name in no time, always smiling and greeting, this was the best service we have encountered in an European hotel,
room was big and comfortable, however not newly renovated.food was very good.
gym was small and hotel was undergoing renovation so there was little noise
thats the only reason for 4 stars,
if you want to splurge this is the place to do it,
5 stars for MO hospitality. looking forward to staying with this group again.
- Stayed May 2015, traveled with family
I am delighted to learn that you liked the location, enjoyed your stay and appreciated the service from the heart by my team.
I am sorry that you were disturbed by noise during our remodeling program of our new restaurant, lounge and bar which should be completed over the next weeks. I would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused to you.
We are looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you again to our hotel in the near future in order to experience our newly designed Matsuhisa Munich restaurant by renowned Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa.

Mandarin Oriental, Munich
We are not the usual clientele for this hotel. Frankly, we aren't wealthy enough but we got a good deal because of the construction. The staff and personal service are part of the reason that this hotel can charge the outrageous prices that they do. The other part is because of the materials, cleanliness, and the location. It was a treat to stay here and although we stayed in three "luxury" hotels this was by all appearances the best but that being said, we would not stay here again. We wouldn't pay the regular rate, there are other options that are far less expensive and nice enough. After the first night, I felt that the room services were overkill. There was AM housekeeping then later mini bar restocking, then later bed turn down. They put out a mat next to the bed, a flower on the pillow and some essential oils. It was nice but I could do without. I could see why someone would prefer this hotel but we didn't really need it.
I am delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel and that you appreciated the colleagues’ service from the heart. Thank you for voting our hotel the best out of three luxury hotels where you stayed at.
Although you usually would not stay in a luxury hotel such as ours we would be pleased to welcoming you again to Mandarin Oriental, Munich in order to experience our newly designed lobby, bar as well as the brand new Matsuhisa Munich restaurant by renowned Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa.

Munich Cocktail Bars Overview
Beer gardens get all the attention, but that just leaves more of the great Munich cocktail bars out there for discerning drinkers like you, right? This chic and cosmopolitan city has plenty of style, and its denizens help support a vibrant craft drinking scene at the many cocktail bars in Munich.
Consistently voted one of the world’s best bars for its to-die-for cocktails, Schumann’s Bar am Hofgarten in the center of Munich is truly a must for any cocktail connoisseur. You’re going to pay (and probably wait) for the experience, but chances are patrons will bump into someone famous on any given night of the week given Hofgarten’s regular clientele.
Bar Harlander is another trendy hotspot that always seems to be busy with a classy clientele sipping sophisticated cocktails, while tons of casual and relaxed Munich cocktail bars serve up tasty liquid mixes with zero pretension. One such pretension-free haunt is the ever-quirky Holy Home over in Isarvorstadt, while the upscale but still cozy and friendly Negroni bar nearby reminds patrons that “a cocktail a day keeps the doctor away,” or so says the sign outside this cute bar with the distinct Italian flair.
No one will ever find this city lacking in frothy steins, but for those who want a little more effort put into their glass, Munich cocktail bars quickly step up to the plate.

The 5 Best Cocktail Bars in Munich
Germany’s beer culture is an integral part of its history—after all, it’s the fourth-largest beer-producing nation in the world. But although it’s known for its brews, the country is spurring a new movement in cocktails, too.

Best Cocktail Bars in Munich
Tantris, one of the most highly renowned restaurants in town, offers fantastic contemporary international cuisine paired with an excellent wine list. The main room, decorated in red and black, sets a dramatic scene for their enticing cuisine. The philosophy of the house is that food is the basis for happiness, and judging by the delighted faces in the restaurant, their dishes deliver. There is also a terrace and garden room, which are available for functions on Sundays and Mondays. The food consists of set meals and a-la-carte options that one can savor at a leisurely pace.
A popular meeting place for students and the upwardly mobile. With its parquet floor, basket chairs and fans, the interior is like something from colonial times, sparse and elegant rather than cool. They do a great range of salads, Asian and South American snacks and dishes like steak and vegetable curry. Pacific Times also has one of the largest selections of drinks in Munich - try their great tasting cocktails or maybe a whisky. Car parking service: EUR 4.50
An intimate space that gets packed with under 30 people, Barroom München is a fantastic place to head to if you're in the mood for cocktails. This small bar serves up some of the most creative cocktails in the city, expertly mixed concoctions of spirits, juices and fresh fruits. If you leave without sampling one of the popular rum-based cocktails, you will really be missing out.
Well concealed in the by-lanes of Munich lies Bar Gabányi, a cocktail bar that also offers a great range of whiskys and champagne. The trendy bar hosts live performances that include various music styles, dance events, comedy shows and even poetry reading sessions. All in all, Bar Gabányi stands for all around entertainment that can be enjoyed with food and drinks. Although the cocktails are a little pricey, house specialties like Josephine or the Airmail are a must try.
Nage & Sauge is a popular little pub in Lehel which serves excellent Italian fare like pizzas as well as other international fare. The house specialty, focaccia, is Italian yeast bread with lots of olives, served with herb butter, fruit, meat or fish toppings. They're also known for the giant salads, that are quite big enough for two. The place tends to be full with well-dressed, fashionable young professionals, so arrive early in the evening to ensure a place.
Owned by the Irish chef Shane McMahon, this restaurant is a reflection of his passion for culinary creativity, Located at the Derag Livinghotel Prinzessin Elisabeth, all that this restaurant guarantees is a fantastic meal of European-Asian fare; even the chefs are not aware of what exactly they will whip up until they assess your preferences! There is a lovely terrace, complete with herb garden, where you can enjoy your meal in a quiet atmosphere, and the lounge is the place to head to for some great drinks.
Located next to the River Isar, Makassar looks like something out of colonial times. Delicious Caribbean drinks and French Creole food are prepared according to traditional recipes, so only come if you like your food a bit different. The age of the clientele ranges from early thirties to late forties and there's a bit of a traveler's atmosphere about the place. As soon as you enter you'll notice how laid back things are, presumably due to the food - or possibly the drink!
Made with organic ingredients, the cocktails are the best bet at The Potting Shed. This comfortable cocktail bar serving a full tapas menu along with wine and cocktails deserves a special mention for the amount of fun that one can experience while dining in its ambience. It leaves no stone unturned to ensure that all diners have a good time. The brightly colored Caipiranhas taste as great too. Enjoy the live music nights that are organized and much loved by the locals.
Dimly lit, the ambiance and feel of the establishment is very cool and laid back. Since Tabacco is located in the city's financial district, it is where working professionals go for a nice drink or two after work. The bar promises a good time with plenty of food and drinks. One can choose from rum, whiskey, brilliant cocktails and platters of seafood and steak. The revelry lasts till late in the night with the cheerful crowd partying and merry-making. Go for the happy hours and stay on till late here.
Somewhere along the lines of New York speakeasy meets Italian eatery, The Martini Club gives you the feeling of having stepped back in time, to the Prohibition of 1920s America, to be exact. The large X over the door is supposed to signify its status as a 'forbidden place', which in reality, this bar is anything but. Forever packed, courtesy masterfully-mixed concoctions like Kentucky Sunshine and the Prohibition Punch, this bar has theme nights the Tuesdays Prohibited 666, which are sure to make your experience more enjoyable. Like with all things forbidden, you will find yourself unable to stay away from The Martini Club.
With an atmosphere of old pre-revolutionary Cuba, Havanna Club is one of the few established cocktail bars in the city center, attracting good-looking women and local men of all ages. Established in 1985, its wonderful bar, natural brick walls and healthy-looking plants provide the backdrop for a noisy and flirtatious crowd. Their collection of rum and wines from around the globe are equally popular. This place is particularly good for an early evening drink.
This is the best place to try cocktails in Munich. The well loved mixes in a variety of flavors provide something for every taste. The ambience is charged with positivity as young crowds catch up and make full use of the attractive happy hours. The food at Ben,s also scores, satiating the appetite as well as being delicious. Chat with the bartenders who will engage you in a cheerful conversation that will keep up the spirits throughout the evening.
