Cinderella Recipe: A Fruity Mocktail Everyone Will Love

The taste of tropical fruit comes to life in the refreshing mocktail known as the Cinderella. It has long been a favorite mixed drink that has delighted young and old for years. The Cinderella is fantastic on summer afternoons, can be shared at a picnic or birthday party, and it makes a fabulous brunch drink as well.

In addition to all that, bartenders and party hosts may want to consider offering the Cinderella to non-drinking guests and designated drivers. It's far more interesting than a glass of Coke or cup of coffee and the taste is one that almost everyone will enjoy.

The Cinderella is an easy mix of three juices, grenadine, and ginger ale. The fruit juices create a tart base that is mellowed by the sweetness of the grenadine and you can adjust it to make it as sweet as you like.

In the end, you will have a tall, refreshing glass of what is essentially a homemade soda and the best part is that it takes just a minute to mix up.

What You'll Need

1 ounce lemon juice
1 ounce orange juice
1 ounce pineapple juice
Dash of grenadine
2 ounce ginger ale or club soda
Optional: 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Garnish: pineapple and orange slices

How to Make It

Pour the juices, grenadine, and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well.
Strain into a chilled collins glass filled with fresh ice.
Top with ginger ale.
Garnish with the slices of pineapple and/or orange.

More Ways to Serve the Cinderella

The Cinderella is one of the easiest drinks to adapt to any occasion. You may want to serve it 'up' in a cocktail glass for more elegant affairs, transform it into a pitcher drink, or offer it as a party punch to a large crowd.

When you're adjusting the serving size, simply keep the three juices equal and use twice as much soda as you do one of the juices. You can also sweeten it to taste by adding more or less grenadine.

Fancy Up the Cinderella. If you'd like a more elegant Cinderella, cut all of the juices and ginger ale in half and serve it in a chilled cocktail glass. It is a delightful way to allow your non-drinking guests to feel like they're part of the crowd. Keep in mind that everyone deserves a great drink!

Alternatively, keep the 1 and 2 ounce pours and simply divide the shaker into two or more cocktail glasses.

A Pitcher for Picnics and Brunch. The Cinderella is a fabulous pitcher drink and you can mix most of it ahead of time. This makes serving it at picnics and brunch just a little easier and you may even want to keep a pitcher in the refrigerator for a quick Cinderella anytime you like.

The key to transforming this into a pitcher drink is to add the ginger ale just before serving. To do this, mix the juices, grenadine, and bitters with ice in your serving pitcher, leaving room for the ginger ale and more ice. Stir this mix and store it in the fridge until needed. Before serving, add fresh ice and top the pitcher with ginger ale.

The Cinderella as a Party Punch. The Cinderella is a fabulous addition to any party and it's fun for kids and adults alike. To create the punch, simply follow the suggestions for a pitcher and increase the volume to fit the size of your party.

It's always fun to dress up a punch bowl.

The Cinderella is nice with a variety of seasonal fruits floating in the drink and an ice ring adds to the presentation. You might even consider freezing fruit or herbs inside the ice.

The Glass Slipper: A Cinderella Cocktail

Disney’s new Cinderella movie premiered last Friday, March 13th. I will forever be a Disney lover, and I haven’t been able to contain my excitement since seeing the giant Cinderella poster at my local movie theater a few months ago.

This version of Cinderella isn’t a drastic change from the original, but there are a few differences. For one, Cinderella (Lily James) meets the prince (Richard Madden) before going to the big, fancy ball at the palace. Cinderella—just Ella in this version—exclaims that she will save the prince, so we can expect a little more conflict in this movie than the usual evil stepmother and glass slipper drama.

All the other things we love about Cinderella—the costumes, the puffy dresses, and the fantastic ball scene—will still be in this movie. I figured this would be the perfect time to make a sparkly, blue cocktail.

Aside from Ella’s dress being an extremely vibrant blue, the color blue is a recurring element in the movie. The prince’s eyes also happen to be a ridiculously gorgeous shade of blue. So to achieve this vibrant hue in drink form, I used some Blue Raspberry drink mix, which you can buy at your local grocery store. I added a little vodka and realized that a touch of champagne would be the perfect pairing. A bright, bubbly celebratory drink seemed perfect for a Cinderella cocktail!

The Glass Slipper

2 tbsp corn syrup

2 ounces blue raspberry drink mix

1 ounce vanilla vodka

top with champagne

– Pour corn syrup on a plate or saucer, and sugar on another plate or saucer. Dip the rim of each champagne flute into the corn syrup, and then into the sugar.

– In a champagne flute, add the blue raspberry drink mix and the vodka. Top with champagne.

Cody of Cocktails by Cody has mixed up a collection of cocktails inspired by Disney Princesses plus some Disney villains for good measure. I would drink them all. Like at the same time. That would be… *counting* Quindecuple-fisting. After that I’d probably wander around the city, get in an argument with a parking meter, then pass out in front of the 7-11 around the corner from my apartment because: taquitos. They’re soooo good. Like, pass out drunk on the sidewalk in front of an establishment level of good.

Evil to the core sounds delicious, like it’d be impossible to have just one 😉

Drinks look beautiful. Though the Aladdin-inspired cocktails would be more interesting to me if Cody had employed some Mideast-inspired flavors, like he did with the Asian flavors for the Mulan-inspired drinks. A cinnamon or nutmeg-infused cocktail, perhaps. Or one employing arak or another anise liqueur. Or simply taking these two drinks as they are, and employing orange or pomegranate juice instead of pineapple juice.

I know, everyone’s a critic!

Cinderella Glass Slipper Cocktail

What a pretty cocktail recipe this is! It’s called a Cinderella Glass Slipper cocktail. I assume if you have too many of them, you might just lose your shoe, like Cinderella did!

Making a Cinderella Glass Slipper Cocktail.

I found the recipe on a foreign language and loved the idea of it, so I just had to translate it for my readers. Don’t drink too many of them or you may lose your slipper too! They have quite a kick to them!

Blue grenadine gives the drink it’s pretty color and combines well with vodka and two juices – grapefruit and pineapple. A dash of coconut syrup goes nicely with the pineapple juice. You can coat the rim of the glass with sugar and flaked coconut for fun, too.

Disney-Themed Cocktails…

The descriptions below are from Cody himself, so you can see what his thought process was as he developed the drinks. So cool!

Cinderella’s classic blue gown is captured into this creamy, light, blueberry based drink.

To mirror Cinderella comes the evil Step Mother. A drink that’s a vile deep red, bitter pomegranate flavoring, with a sweet chocolate finish. Perfect for this malicious villain.

Aurora’s drink is a light, sweet, tropical flavored martini in a layered form of pink to blue — to portray the fight over her gowns coloring.

Hands down my most precious drink that I’ve crafted to date. It’s the mistress of evil herself, Maleficent. The layering in this drink makes it look like an oil spill, and nothing short of vile. It is a mixture of tart, bitter, and sour that is a wonderful combination, while still having a strong vodka based backbone.

In a tropical three-tiered frozen beverage, I give you Ariel. Each layer has a different flavor type going on, and when combined make a great islander drink. All topped with Swedish Fish. [ And for people asking why I layered it like this, the blue is the ocean, and she wants out, so her tail and hair colors are “out” of the water. Just play along. Okay?]

The evil of the deep, Ursala. In a unique, refreshing combo of Grape and coconut rum, the ‘Sea Witch’ is born. A real fun drink to come up with.

I wanted to push these Disney Characters in all directions, and opted to go the Bomb Shot route with dear Snow White. This was VERYYYYYY HARD to layer to make it even look this good. I had to pour this out several times…. But anyway! The base drink is pineapple juice and a splash of Sprite at the bottom, and blue curacao layered on top.

As much as I wanted to make Dopey, the liquor was just not working with me, so Grumpy took his place. The Orange & grenadine work perfectly with the base drink. With that said the cream is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL. I did it to tie in more Disney then just a red shot.

And I always thought the Evil Queen was boring, so I made a double shot to be the cursed Apple. Measurements are pretty easy to figure out by looking at this. Equal all on the Apple, double cran.

Fair Maiden, Grumpy, and Evil to the Core

I interpreted Belle into a mellow yellow banana split martini. It’s smooth, sweet, and light. Makes for the perfect dessert drink.

Belle of the Ball

The macho villain himself, Gaston. More of a drink for the boys, a whiskey based cocktail, with rich black cherry, and smooth nutty amaretto finish.

Burly and Brawny

Jafar is a sleek, tall, toxic drink. Along with one of my favorite liquors ever, Myers Rum, it makes for a very potent drink with the pineapple and grenadine cover. All topped with a orange peel cut into a cobra. (kind of)

Opposite Jafar, Jasmine’s drink is white rum based, and a much more exotic light mix. The main hassle with this drink is mixing it so the color lands. All topped with gold sprinkles, and laying at the bottom.
