Spools (Small Pools)
If you are looking to have a luxurious backyard but have a limited space to work with, you might be in the market for a Spool. A Spool, or a Cocktail Pool, is a small swimming pool design created as a solution to having a relaxing swimming pool fit for a small backyard or limited space.
The word spool is a combination of a spa and a pool. Spools are typically oversized spas or a smaller version of a pool somewhere around 12’ X 14’. Unfortunately, due to construction issues, spools are not necessarily less expensive than an average swimming pool, however it is much cheaper than a pool with a spa.
Cocktail Pools might be easier to maintain due to the smaller size, and a spool certainly might be an option for someone with a very small yard. The real Spool has spa features built into a small pool that is large enough to lounge in, and to do water aerobics in but easier to heat because of the size.

How to Make a Pool Water Mixed Drink
The "Pool Water" is a refreshing cocktail that will help you keep temperatures low on a hot summer day. This mixed drink resembled water from a swimming pool, hence the name "Pool Water". Garnish with a floating raspberry and it looks like a miniature swimming pool, held in the palm of your hand and waiting for your taste buds to dive in. Here's how to make a Pool Water mixed drink at home.
How to Make a Pool Water Mixed Drink
Place your drinking glass into the freezer to chill the glass. This will add a frosted effect to the drink, adding to its refreshing nature. You should place your glasses in the freezer for at least 15-20 minutes before preparing your "Pool Water" mixed drink.
Pour all liquid ingredients into a mixing glass full of ice cubes. Using the mixing stem to briskly stir the contents until they are well blended, even cloudy.
Remove your drinking glass from the freezer and strain the mixture into the glass, so that only the liquid is poured into the drinking glass, with the ice cubes remaining in the glass used for mixing.
Drop a single raspberry in the top of the glass as a floating garnish. The end result should be a frosty drink of cloudy, yet transparent liquid with a slight blue hue.

Cocktail Pools
What in the world is a cocktail pool?
It’s definitely a place to gather for drinks and a party on a hot afternoon or a cool evening, but the cocktail pool is so much more. The cocktail pool is usually described as a swimming pool that is smaller than a traditional backyard pool…a mini pool.
Cocktail pools are smaller than a play pool. Although designed typically for smaller, challenging lots, spools can be found in almost any backyard scene. Typically, a cocktail pool is the same depth throughout and a great way to take a cooling dip in the summer. By adding a heating element, the cocktail pool can be turned into a spa (or spool) in the cooler weather.
The vast amenities available for your cocktail pool can provide the advantages of a standard swimming pool in less than one-tenth of the space. Entertainment-focused features such as underwater speakers and fiber optic lighting, and comfort-focused choices like integrated seating ledges make the cocktail pool a perfect place to cool off and enjoy…cocktails! And for the fitness-minded household, a swim stream – a water jet that provides a current against which swimming is possible, even in a cocktail pool – can be incorporated.
Best of all, the smaller size of the cocktail pool can make it economically feasible to create a real gem. Materials such as granite or glass tiles that would be costly in larger pools are perfect for cocktail pools. And with attention to landscaping design detail, a very special and Unique environment can be created for the cocktail pool to make the best use of your property and perfectly highlight your outdoor entertainment area.
