Networking events are not effective if no one shows up or, worse yet, people come and no one networks. To encourage discussion and engagement between attendees it's useful to come up with a fun networking concept. Even the traditional cocktail party or sit-down dinner can become a little more exciting with the addition of some games or clever techniques to get people to socialize.
Wine Charm Mixer
To encourage people to talk to one another, make a game of it. Give 10 wine charms to each person as they arrive. As people meet up to chat, they swap a charm until everyone has 10 unique charms from others. All guests who meet the goal of 10 charms have their names placed in a drawing for a door prize.
Speed Networking
A business take on speed dating, speed networking gives individuals three minutes to chat with someone new before the signal to move on to the next person. If your gathering is small enough, try a session of speed networking for the first hour of the event, followed by a casual cocktail party or sit-down dinner where people can meet up again and continue conversations.
Mystery Dinner or Scavenger Hunt
For a sit-down dinner networking event, have all participants work toward solving a mystery. Clues can be hidden in the napkins of each place setting; diners will receive directions to visit neighboring tables to get additional clues. Alternatively, set up a scavenger hunt before dinner begins where everyone is paired up and tasked with finding a particular item to bring to the front of the room. The items will each provide a clue to the answer to a question; the first pair to guess the answer wins a prize.
Build a Giraffe
For a hands-on activity, divide attendees into groups and have them build an animal out of the materials provided; for example, a giraffe out of toilet paper rolls and duct tape. The team with the largest structure wins a prize. The task acts as an icebreaker, so later on attendees will feel more comfortable talking with one another about their business talents and interests.

Premium Ingredients
Our team of cocktail experts have painstakingly developed each drink to taste truly authentic, exactly how your local mixologist would make them.
Each Bartesian Capsule is made with real, premium ingredients: juice concentrates, non-alcoholic liqueurs, and bitters, all in liquid form. There are no artificial powders or high-glucose corn syrup in these capsules. This allows for quality taste and drinkability cocktail after cocktail.
Elegant Design
Bartesian has been designed and developed with the care and intricacy of a craft cocktail. From the welded steel enclosure, to the simple geometric form, we have designed every feature with style and ease of use in mind to create the ultimate user experience. Bartesian has a simple, analog interface: no need for each guest to download and fumble through an app.
We’ve even incorporated the iconic cocktail shaker into the Bartesian experience, a visceral part of cocktail culture. So now you can make amazing cocktails, AND look like a pro while doing it!
Environmentally Friendly
Bartesian capsules are recyclable. You heard right, recyclable! Unlike some other single-serve “cup” systems out there, we love the environment! We better not see one Bartesian capsule in the garbage…
Features and Specs
Each of the four glass reservoirs contains one of the basic spirits: vodka, rum, tequila, and gin. No need for cleaning and putting in different liquids or flavours, the capsules take care of all of that.
Bartesian is equipped with an intelligent barcode system which automatically reads the recipe for each cocktail and custom prepares each one to its unique method.
Bartesian has an ultra-simple, three button interface. There's something so rewarding about the push of a button, and watching the machine do all the work.
Cleaning: It couldn't be easier! Simply pull out the capsule tray, rinse under warm water and pop it back into the machine, how easy is that? The reservoirs bottles themselves are dishwasher safe making it quick and easy to get your machine clean and back in action. But because the reservoirs store only alcohol, they don't have to be continually cleaned and changed.

Our Journey
We knew we wanted to create a simple way for everyone to enjoy the cocktail experience in their homes, so we spent the first couple months speaking to as many people as possible to discover what they really wanted. We modified a coffee machine to learn what features, processes, and ideas people preferred the most. Once we saw the excitement in people’s eyes, we knew it was time to leave our jobs and develop this amazing idea full-time!
After our first prototype we went to HAX, the world's premier hardware accelerator in Shenzen China, in order to prototype quickly and work directly with manufacturers. This experience taught us so much, and after four months, and four more prototypes, we walked away with a beautiful and fully-functional model.

With experience in product development, business, and bartending, the Bartesian team is ready for the challenge of creating the best home cocktail experience. We want to make the best, so we work with the best! Our advisors and consultants are world class experts in mixology, industrial design, and flavour management. We also have support of mentors from HAX, the premier hardware accelerator, and top business and engineering university incubators (Launchpad and Velocity), making our team even more amazing!

Risks and challenges
We have a beautiful prototype, a great plan, and an amazing team. However, we understand all of this means nothing without you, our backers. That's why we are committed to delivering Bartesian with the highest possible quality, in a reasonable time frame.
Traveling to China for four months, we mitigated as many manufacturing, production, and supply chain issues as possible, while actually designing the product. We have outlined a conservative time frame for delivery, and are supported be a huge network of very experienced hardware, manufacturing, and supply chain experts.
Like any hardware project, there will always be unforeseen challenges and potentially delays that arise. However, we are dedicated to rising and meeting these issues head on, with the same dedication and passion that got us to this point. The Edgbaston’s 6 contemporary en-suite bedrooms are of the highest standards and, in our award-winning cocktail lounge, we’re proud to present nationally recognised bartenders serving classic cocktails with wit and style, a throwback to the classic era of Martinis before dinner and service table side.
Alongside our amazing cocktails we have a bar menu inspired by broad European and British influences with dishes designed for sampling and sharing. Afternoon Tea is served daily in the cocktail lounge from noon until 6pm, a decadent treat not to be missed!

During your stay at the Edgbaston Boutique Hotel you will be accommodated in one of our 6 individually decorated, contemporary, luxury bedrooms. Each en-suite room has a distinct contemporary design. They offer huge comfortable beds, an abundance of cushions and throws, so that your stay is truly relaxing. In a stylish, Art Deco interior of jet-black and gold, the Edgbaston Cocktail Lounge is all about cocktails. Nationally recognised bartenders serving classic cocktails with wit and style in our award-winning throwback to the classic era of Martinis before dinner and service tableside.
The three Cocktail lounges within the Edgbaston offer one of the finest spirits collections in the UK. We want the Edgbaston to be recognised as one of the world’s best Cocktail Lounge and our team of multi-award winning bartenders have all of the flair, dedication and passion to achieve this. All cocktails, both classic and new, are made with the finest spirits, and a dedication to bartending that simply cannot be found anywhere else. The Edgbaston bartenders have a passion for perfection.
On our menu you’ll find some Edgbaston originals and a prestige menu. All of our cocktails are made using super premium liquors and the freshest ingredients. As well as cocktails we offer a superb collection of wines and twelve different champagnes most of which are available by the glass.

Inspired by European and British influences and spirit, The Edgbaston’s Bar Food menu is available 7 days a week from 6pm until late and features dishes designed for sampling and sharing in our vibrant atmospheric bar. Please note there is no car parking on site – there is free car parking on the main road for up to 2 hours mid week and there is a fee paying car park opposite. Parking on the main road at the weekend and after 6.30pm midweek is free of charge and has no time limit.
The Edgbaston welcomes guests from 12 noon until late, offering Afternoon Tea, a bar food menu (from 6pm) and a variety of Cocktails, Wines, Champagnes, Spirits, a selection of bottled Craft Beers and Asahi a Japanese Premium Lager on draft served at -2 degrees!
